Trolling motor is nice, so are the hobbie pedal kayaks. Those dont run out of battery

I hear ya, everyone has a different preference. Those hobbie yaks are well over 2k, though, for a new one. And you wouldn't believe how many people with those hobbie yaks peddle their sweaty asses up to my buddies yak and drool over it. lol

Like I said, to each their own. Those hobbie yaks are nice as **** also.

I was playing around with 1 of these last week while on vacation. Does it count?

Bump. I forgot I started this thread until it came up in a search.

I ended buying one about a year ago, not the one Cago mentioned though. Really nice but decided against a trolling motor, so wanted something that would track a little better.

Weather finally cooled off here, so I think I'm gonna head out this weekend and do some fishing.

Anyone else into kayak fishing here?

Also, can someone move this to The Bar? Doesn't seem like it should be in All Sports.

Awesome. And yeah, I really wanted one of the pedal drive Hobie's too...but they are super expensive. I ended up getting a Vibe Sea Ghost 130. It's pretty awesome:

I've been thinking about getting a fish finder, but most of the stuff I fish in is really shallow, so probably not worth it.

I would love to go kayak fishing in Florida. I was just down in Miami for work last week and really wanted to get out. My yak is so wide and slow but super stable that I can stand and cast. It would suck for ocean fishing though.
I love my fish finder. It maps out the lake for future use as well. I have been able to find schools of crappie and perch with it, just anchor up, and pull in fish after fish.

Be careful down there in FL!

Lol, yeah. I see them sometimes, but they generally leave you alone if you don't **** with them. I'm pretty sure mine would do ok in the ocean, but I mostly stick to inshore stuff. That body of water in the picture above is the Mosquito Lagoon. Some of the best redfish in the world out there, outside of a few places in Louisianna. Also sea trout, snook, etc. If you end up in central FL for any reason and have time, you should definitely check it out.

And yeah, re the fish finder, I thought about getting one just so I could mark spots and stuff...but have been using my phone for that, with an app called Navionics.

Yeah, I didn't really NEED a fishfinder. But I love tech gear. And I convinced myself after saving money on ebates and they had a manufacturer rebate at the time as well.

Ah yeah. Fair enough. I don't think they are dangerous. But I certainly wouldn't want to be in the water with one.
Check out this sturgeon caught from a kayak! I tried to have it start at 30 seconds. I guess that doesnt work as an embed. Skip to 30.

Holy shit, that's nuts. My personal dream is to hook up w/ a giant tarpon that takes me on a sleigh ride.

I was just telling @nvanprooyen how mad crazy jelly i am of him being able to pull redfish out of the water. It's my new fave fish I think, as far as flavor goes.

My bad. I didn't mean to give the impression that was me. I just saw it on r/kayakfishing a while back.

Edit: but yes, I got scared just watching it
