The Bulls have BEEN a "contender" in the east. OKC has BEEN a "contender" in the west. That means absolute shit, being a contender. To win you need a complete TEAM, not just one or two really good players.

To win you generally need two stars, with one at least being a Superstar and great role players.

Being a contender in the West is a whole hell of a lot different than being a contender in the East.

Westbrook is eye candy. He has the athleticism to score points. His problem is he doesn't make good decisions as a point guard, is a vloume scorer, has a major ego problem and he can't hit the broadside of a barn on a regular basis. Westbrook will never win a championship, and will most likely have a short career in the NBA due to his playing style.

He'll be entering his 9th season next year how is that a short career? He's had one major injury in his career.

Yeah, true. Having Durant is a horrible start to building a complete team.

The Bulls need a rebuild from the top down. You cannot do that with a max type player on your roster. You need consecutive losing seasons or trades to acquire the lottery picks needed to rebuild. As I said, Cleveland couldn't rebuild properly until LeBron left. He got them to the Finals, but understood he couldn't win a championship until Cleveland was able to get more stars to help. Class dissmissed.

He's a pg who can't score from the perimeter, you figure it out.

Or you could be Philly, Minny, New Orleans, etc.

DISCLAIMER: KEVIN DURANT IS NOT COMING HERE. WE ALL KNOW THAT.

You may now continue to read..

Adding KD to the Bulls immediately makes you a contender in the Eastern Conference. It would offer both short and long term benefits to a "rebuild". You would have essentially rebuilt to where you were 3-4 years ago with one signing.

There's not a world out there where Kevin Durant hurts your team if you're rebuilding.

Pels have a superstar! Bite your tongue

He isn't going to have a short career. Someone will pay him the max next season and he'll play at least 14 years in the NBA provided he doesn't have a career ending injury.

No, it's not. Being a contender just means you're a playoff team. The Bulls have been "contenders" for years. Where has this dubious distinction got them (see playoff record).

Like Rose, Westbrook is a slasher who can't shoot from the perimeter. Once his legs go due to wear and tear, his career will be over.

Show me a team that's successfully rebuilt top down with only lottery picks and went on to win a championship within 5 years within the last 30 years? I can't think of one.

For those who critically think through things, the Bulls have been a contender in a weaker conference, but would be nowhere close to contending in the West. The Thunder have been a contender in a stronger conference, and could possibly have multiple Eastern Conference championships.

Thus, my original statement: being a contender in the West is a whole hell of a lot different than being a contender in the East.

How many teams with top 3 players get lottery picks?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

All the parameters are unnecessary. The Bulls run is over, so they must rebuild. Teams like the Bulls have two choices; rebuild or continue to be fodder for LeBron and half of the western conference.

What are we talking about? Conference championships? We're Bulls fans. Who cares about conference championships?

The Pelicans have an arguable top 3 player and are in the lottery every year! Is that what we're going for?
