This is actually, pretty much the way they won the cup. Core, Plan, Sign Key piece, fill with kids.
also makes you wonder if someone will tap Tallon on the shoulder and say 'enough already'. Seems like he's trying to build Blackhawks #2 in Florida. This is where you want your GM to have a clean break from his old club. Too many strings here still seem to be attached by Tallon to Chicago.

You can't trade for veterans. At some point you ahve to get the talent you have a shot or they will get pissed off and bolt. It's called using your system. It's worked very well up to this point. Last year they lost 11 players. This year so far 3 that might have had a roster spot.
Talent not named Crawford will not stay in Rockford for ever without leaving. Kopecky held up a spot for a REAL 4th liner, which he was not.
Championship teams build aroudn the CORE. Which is exactly what they are doing. Kopecky, Brouwer, were not part of the core.
Trade for players that helped the Blackhawks win the Cup? What a terrible idea... you're right.

I don't like the 'rebuild' direction it appears we're heading down. When you win the cup, you patch and replace, not overhaul. Kopecky was a steal at $1M per. If he was asking for $2.5M and up then yeah I would part with him too - too expensive at that number. But stockpiling picks? Ugh! Would rather we traded for veterans. Most picks are just nothing more than prospects anyhow and who knows how they'll pan out.
could have not put it better. I like what we are doing shedding salary not deserved and freeing up space for what is needed. Just noticed V. Leno is also a free agent. not bad for someone that only made 870k last season. I like his style and was a former wing, I think he would fit good with hossa and bolly, what you guys think if we can get him cheap???

Can't have it both ways Stu. You can't say these are players we don't want here and then say these are great pickups for Florida cause they were with Hawks during Stanley Cup.

I told you yesterday they had no intentions of bringing him back.
Kop had a good year last year, but previously I did not care much for him. As far as those who will fill the slot, I am dissappointed that Beach hasn't lived up to the promise he had once shown. I would like to see his size, grit and scoring potential up with the big club.
If they had no intentions of bringing him back they wouldn't have waited until 4 days before Free Agency to trade him. He must have wanted too much.

I don't think so. I think they were talking about this the other day and couldn't come to an agreement. It was the other deal Tallon was talking about that fell through. Least that's what I'd guess. They were waiting to see what was going to happen with Campbell IMO.
They love Dale. I wouldn't doubt OTHER players with a Stanley Cup from that year head that way. They didn't love Stan, they Loved Dale. It's quite clear and has been.
Hawks are doing just what they need to win and getting something for someone that was leaving either way. Good for them and good for Dale getting Vets that might help his very YOUNG team.
I do too. Like Alui he has the talent. Like Alui he doesn't seem to have the head. Although I thought he was ahead of Alui in that department. I would have liked to see Beach in the playoffs this past year personally.
He's big, he hits, he has a shot, but he has not fucking brain so far.
