Where are you getting this from? There's still no news of contract being signed anywhere that I've seen and last report was they're still working on it.

He's right. Kopecky is just not a top 6 forward, and Q seemed to be insistent that he was. Kane set him up sooo many times, right in front of the net, only for him to whiff on it time and time and time again. And I agree, it was frustrating watching that. I don't see that as "hating" on the guy, he just should never be relied to consistently be in the top 6 or on first unit power play. In a pinch, yeah maybe. Not for prolonged stretches of the season. But that's on Q, not on Kopecky. Can't really blame him for that.

Well he *is* a hardcore uber-film geek---you virtually dangled screenplay porn in front of his very eyes.

Confirmed today. He got 4 years/12 million dollars. Absurd money. With the continued gross overpayment of free agents this off season the $14 million the Hawks have to spend suddenly doesn't look as good as did 4 days ago.

Wasn't the cap like $44 million back in 2005? Have to wonder if the league is putting itself in another bind financially today with all these lifetime deals to players.

It does if they spend it wisely. Hawks have but only 4-5 roster spots to fill. At least two of those will come from Rockford. If there isn't a C available we just may have to go with Kruger. And really I think that was partially the plan last year, and exactly why he was signed to a one way contract.

I still believe the Hawks are right on track. It's all up to Stan now to "round" out he Roster. The Core is the best in the league, hands down.

He's put himself in positions to execute his a plan perfectly. Now it's just a matter of the pieces falling into place. Right now everything could still go ape shit depending on who signs and who doesn't.

The cap floor is just as much of a problem as the cap ceiling. Teams are overpaying right now just to meet the cap floor.

I agree that I think the plan is to go with Kruger with the Hawks...it's his job to lose.

With the extra money, they'll sign better 3rd/4th line depth players and a Dman - and keep a few million in the bank - if they need to trade/acquire someone during the season. A luxury that they haven't had the last several years.

It'll allow them to pull different players up from Rockford as well - without worrying as much with how much they make...or "sending" guys up/down to save a few bucks here and there.

Scooter and Co. have their plan...it'll be new/interesting for sure.

There's too much that can go on between now and the start of the regular season, but depending how this McNeill kid does at prospect camp and at training camp he may be in line to make the big club. We'll see who the hawks sign on Friday because I think that will make a big difference on how many and who gets a chance from their prospect pool.
