I feel the same way about Bryant as I did when Tuffy Rhodes hit 3 or Kerry Wood dominated the Astros... Give it time, pitchers will adjust, let's see what correction Bryant makes when that happens he may struggle

Tuffy Rhodes was never the caliber the player Bryant is now. Not even close. Wood was derailed by injuries and arm abuse when he was younger. Yes, Bryant will have to adjust but those arent the best examples.

Ya it's hard to find a comparison, I'm just trying to not go full out meatball.

At this point it's hard to wonder if all the projections of Bryant hitting 25-30 HRs were simply...missing something.

I think it's time to go full meatball. 9hr in what 30ab? 500ab season translates to 150hr.

I'm going to be much more reasonable and say he breaks McGuire's rookie HR record and hits 50. Book it!

I agree except for the two bolded. The first we don't know yet. So far all he has shown is how to lose. It is ok to be optimistic though.
Second is outright false and has been shown to be false by me and at least one other in this thread. Boras and all agents work for the Client and do as the Client says.

If you choose to pretend Theo hasn't done a good job of assembling the Cubs roster, fine. Everyone else knows he has.

I am not saying he has won a WS. I am saying he is building a team, and yes, we can say he is doing well.

I honestly didn't see any projections as low as 25.

.250/.350/.500 with say 25 HRs in the majors. Might slug for more but I'm expecting some struggle.

This is why I don't trust beckdawg although I know he's a smart guy. He's simply way too pessimistic on Cubs prospects for some reason and always seems to come on the very low end of expectations. Perhaps he's trying to put a reverse jinx but his prediction regarding Bryant was nothing short of strange.

What? Calm down. His projection is most likely way closer then most Cubs fans you will read. This guy isnt just going to destroy the league from the word go. He has contact rate issues that will bring down his average. He will have to adjust to the majors. To think he is going to come out the gate and hit 40 homers is borderline nuts. I hope he does but the smart money is he wont. People need to not go full meatball and keep expectations in check.

I've agreed with you on this before and I still do but it's not just meatball fans talking this talk. I saw a quote from a scout this week that said that Bryant was by far and away the best prospect he had seen in his 29 years in the game and the he felt that Bryant would not only run away with RoY but would compete for MVP. 29 years covers a lot of ground. Now, I think Giancarlo Stanton and a few others might beg to differ but it's not like this guy is a meatball fan. Bryant is a special prospect. if he doesn't struggle he'd probably the first even among the special ones though. I think the best way to look at Bryant is to try to be completely reasonable and lower expectations, and then figure he'll probably beat those. I wouldn't get on the people that are cautious and I don't want to squash the hopes of the over the top folks either. If scouts can think that way so can fans. In the end we'll all just see what he does.

I disagree. Ive seen more complete prospects. Bryant is a freak but sometimes even scouts get enamored with players. I agree with what you are saying just wanted to say my peace on that.

Would we all agree on Griffey and Arod being two of them?

I go a step further and say Josh Hamilton. He may be the highest rated prospect of all time.People are enamored because Bryant has a superstar, face of the franchise look with a powerful bat. Its hard not to fall for him. lol
