Yep exactly like St. Louis, who led the league in scoring runs in 2013 when they made it to the World Series and 2011 when they won the World Series.
With help from key FA's and trades. The Cards, the last couple drafts, have placed a huge premium on pitching. They have, arguably, the best crop of arms thru out the minor leagues. It is the exact opposite of what Theo is trying to pull off. Will Theo's plan work? Who knows, but the Cards have proven success at the major league level while the Cubs are banking on that first pick in the draft next year.

I am fully excited about the future of the Cubs. That being said, drafting and trading for a bunch of players who have alot of swing and miss in their tool box and banking that these players will be desirable enough to return top pitching is still just a roll of the dice.

Or the slurpers chugging kool aid
This afternoon has been about the burpers. See, the slurpers and blister lippers think Cub farts smell like roses. The burpers, OTOH, have a foul stench of halitosis coming from their posts, because, dammit, they are the only realists around. Just ask them. There is no way Theo & Co will be successful, the Ricketts are cheap, the Cubs will never win and there is no prospect in the farm who will be working out at the MLB level. There can be no middle ground. The CCS board collective is bound together with its head stuck up Hoyerstein's @$$. Oh, why can't everyone just agree with the burpers and wallow in misery as they do?

There is no way Theo & Co will be successful,

Who said this? What I've heard many say is that purposefully throwing games only 100% ensures 1 thing - losing those games. Which the Cubs have done.

the Ricketts are cheap,

What people have said is that when an owner makes a statement like "We need a jumbo tron to have the money to be competetive" and then it's proven that they were the most profitable team in baseball, even dumbasses have to question their motives.

the Cubs will never win

Again. No one has said that other than you. What has been said is that winning is not guaranteed.

and there is no prospect in the farm who will be working out at the MLB level

Once again, you're making crap up. No one ever said all these kids will fail. Some of these prospects very well may hit. But you can find valued prospects without purposefully throwing away seasons. You can build a team without scrapping a whole year. Or 4....

Many successful teams, with far less resources than the Cubs, season after season, put quality contenders out there without tanking. Many GM's build farm systems without losing 100+ games a year. And one thing he should never do is make a statement about how "this team could make the playoffs" and then purposefully blow up another season just to get a draft pick.

I'm sure if you and those of your ilk made posts like that with regularity you would find more agreement than swooping into forums and using gross inclusivity to suggest everyone is a blister lipper or a slurper.

My "ilk" is a Cubs fan and former season ticket holder who wants the team to win - and to be a contender. And is really frustrated at the method they've chosen to maybe have a playoff team. Which includes throwing 4 seasons and trading away proven talent for hopefuls.

So you're good with the team sucking these last 4 years?

Really?
If any Cub fan thinks four years of being the trash of baseball is a good thing they need their head examined. Face facts, two years for a complete over haul is perfectly fine and something this team needed. But this mess is getting rather stale. The end result is, the Cubs now have a prospectors wet dream of a farm system and not one shred of proof that these players can actually perform at the highest level. The Shark trade either put the rebuild back two more years, or somebody is getting traded for pitching. The minor leagues were shaped at the expense of a respectable mlb team. Thats a fucking shame. Are the Ricketts cheap? I highly doubt it but it sure as hell looks like it right now when, if there was a competitive team in Wrigley, they would sell out every single game. Thats backwards logic.

This team needs pitching. Theo has two great pitchers hitting FA this year. Lets see just how committed to winning the FO really is then.

So we should do it the wrong way because it is what you want?

Javier Baez, Albert Almora, Kris Bryant, and Kyle Schwarber. I am good with them. Yes.

You forgot Soler, Alcantara, Edwards, Russell and a few lesser guys.

Offensively, if some of these guys pan out to even be decent, we are some good pitching away from hopefully, maybe contending for the playoffs. Of all our current prospects, I'd say the only guy who looks like a sure thing, can't miss type, is Bryant. The others are still debatable...
