Makarov signs 2 year Deal

I think he's a lefty and over 6ft if I remember correctly without looking at Stats. Makarov-Toews-Havlat looked phenominal for that one game.

From what I've seen of both Makarov and Beach, I'd chose Makarov hands down.

It was hard to have a conversation with him his first year in PC camp because he spoke very little English. Ironically the only other Russian speaking person in that camp was Akim. SO there was a language barrier.

My favorite teams
 1. Portland Timbers
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
Proabably the best 'hawks news in awhile. I know RK, you were high as hell on him. My guess is he's probably on the Bolland line (assuming Bolly centers the 3rd line and our top-2 is Brou/Toews/Kane and Kopekcy/Sharp/Hossa).

Personally, I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be with the club this year.

This is strictly off visual memory, but I would say he's about 6'1" and about 195lbs. He hits like a tank. If the team wants more grit, he can certainly provide it.
This kid is really good, I would be surprised if he did not make the team.

Great signing for 512K, amazing deal for two years the Hawks are really going to get some bang for their buck here.
I wonder if some of the hold up was to get the salary low but load it with as many bonuses as possible. In any case, good to hear because he does bring something the 'Hawks can use.

Hell yea, I was wondering about Makarov the other day. Glad to see he's signed, and hope he makes it. This should also give Beach a kick in the ass, from the day I went to camp he was not looking like a guy who wants to make the team, he looked like someone who thinks he had already made the team, not to mention the teeing off on someone literally half your size...from Sweden...real tough there dude.

The thing I remember about the week where I watched Makarov play was that he always stood out, in a good way. He was much more involved then Beach was. He took many of us by surprise...

The Edge has real glass for the glass, not plastic. So it it is held together by little brackets at the top of the glass. Makarov hit someone so hard into the glass that the bracket flew 20ft from the glass and landed two rows in front of us. The kid plays physical.
Igor Makarov - Player Profile

For those wanting stats, scouting report, and other info
Can't wait to see him with our talent around him. I don't think he played very talented teams in the KHL, played with Jiri Hudler who was a PPG player last season with them. Makarov got traded last year from St. Petersburg to Moscow and had a total of 9 points in 51 games. If he makes it here he'll be producing more than that.

Ahhh, I was at that camp. I totally forgot that was him that landed the hit. The bracket landed right near us too.

I think that is the day I met WhalerHawk and BHP as well.

All I heard were good things about Markov from last years camp. I don't know why you guys all hate Russians so much. Like there aren't lazy selfish players from North America. The Cold Wars over baby, we won!

Let's see.....Krivokrasov, Samsonov, Karpotsov come to mind right away. Other players that fit into the 'lazy' category at times would be Yashin, and even Kovalchuk at times.

Um lets see. Arnason, Bell, Fleury. There are plenty of North American ex-Hawks who were just as lazy and no account.

Arnason I will agree with you on - he was lazy and would just stand there at times as if continually skating was not worth the energy. Bell wasn't bad - not much talent but seemed to play hard. Fleury was an addict so drugs and alcohol were impacting any ability he had - wasnt' a matter of being lazy but just bombed all the time.

This is pretty good news. Gives us a lot of potential for an extremely friendly cap hit. Wouldn't be surprised to see this kid on line 2 or 3... Doesn't sound like a fourth line skillset to me? A physical guy that will go get the puck is exactly what the Sharp/Hossa line would thrive off of.

We'll have to see how things shake out though.

Did some one end up keeping that? We were near the last row, and that bracket hit me in the foot.

I don't recall Samsonov as lazy...never got the time under Savard - went to Rockford and worked pretty hard, then got his chance when moved to Carolina.

Datsyuk, Federov, Ovechkin, Malkin...theres a few Russians that are pretty good..

I think an employee asked for it back and got it back. Would have been a cool souvenir if Makarov makes it big.
