Did some one end up keeping that? We were near the last row, and that bracket hit me in the foot.
I ended up giving it back to the guy that does the rink maintenance at the Edge. Makarov had broken a huge chunk of it off.

Datsyuk, Federov, Ovechkin, Malkin...theres a few Russians that are pretty good..
True but you'll never find any of them in Chicago. I can't think of one good Russian we've had play for the Blackhawks.

I agree, Samsonov was never used correctly by Savard. He wasn't lazy IMO.

Zhamnov wasn't bad. He was just asked to replace more than left.

For those who worry about Makarov's stats (on a point per game basis), please keep in mind that he played for SKA St. Petersburg, the same team that just signed Evgeni Nabokov. This team is like the Yankees of the KHL and a young player like Makarov didn't get much ice time on that team.

I know the Hawks always wished he stayed here and played for Rockford as he would have gotten more ice time and accelerated his development, but you can't blame the guy for taking a huge salary increase to stay over there.

Wasn't he traded to or from Dynamo at some point last season? I know he was on a team and played only a few minutes a game with 2 fourth line scrubs for at least half the season then was traded to have better opportunity somewhere.

Can't wait to see him with our talent around him. I don't think he played very talented teams in the KHL, played with Jiri Hudler who was a PPG player last season with them. Makarov got traded last year from St. Petersburg to Moscow and had a total of 9 points in 51 games. If he makes it here he'll be producing more than that.
I think it was the exact opposite. I have heard that SKA St. Petersburg is very good and because they had so much talent, Makarov saw very little ice time on those teams.

Not sure, but Ton's scouting report shows him playing for SKA for the last few years, for the most part. That team has deep pockets, so I have to assume they were fielding a pretty competitive squad that entire time.

I think this is pretty much correct.
Proabably the best 'hawks news in awhile. I know RK, you were high as hell on him. My guess is he's probably on the Bolland line (assuming Bolly centers the 3rd line and our top-2 is Brou/Toews/Kane and Kopekcy/Sharp/Hossa).

Personally, I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be with the club this year.
I know this is puting the cart in front of the horse ... but if Makarov is anything close to the way he played in training camp a couple years ago, I would think he is better suited to play LW on one of the top two lines. We really don't have a legit top-6 LW. Brouwer, Kopecky and Bickell all spent some time in that role in the past, with Brouwer producing the best results, but all three of those guys are probably closer to 3rd or 4th line guys.

Providing Beach spends a year in Rockford, I could see Makarov and Stalberg playing LW on the top two lines.

I agree with you raptor...to start...

Makarov - Toews - Hossa

Stahlberg - Sharp - Kane

Bickell - Bolland - Brouwer

Kopecky - Reasoner - Dowell

Makarov and Stahlberg both sound more like "skilled" players and should be on a skill line..who knows though until it gets going

I agree RK...I think though Stahlberg could be the "key" to the team/forward group...if playing with Sharp and Kane (for instance)...if he could be a 25g guy...they would have 3 potent lines.

And the avg age of those 4 lines...25.6 yrs old

No offense to Kaner of course but Makarov-Toews-Hossa gives me a stiffy.

Other than PK and JT I've never seen anyone in a Prospect Camp with as much raw talent than Makarov. I hope I'm not just nuts.

I'm also fine with Sharp and Pat together. Plus Pat likes playing with either Sharp or JT.

They do something dumb and trade Sharp I will be extremely pissed off.

Isn't this discussion more fun than the doom and gloom Campbell trade threads.

Makarov may turn out to be a total bust - who knows - but on July 14th with over two months to wait before the Hawks play again, this has got my Hawks juices going. It's nice to enjoy the summer after my heart's content. We are the champs and it feels great.

And not loosing much size -

Byfuglien 6'4 260lbs - Bickell 6'4 225lbs

Eager 6'2 230lbs - Stalberg 6'3 210lbs

Ladd 6'2 200lbs - Dowell 6'0 205lbs

Madden 5'10 190lbs- Reasoner 6'1 205lbs

Versteeg 5'10 180lbs - Makarov 6'1 190lbs

Post Hawks Avg - 6'1 212lbs

New Hawks Avg - 6'2 207lbs

Stalberg was credited with 64 hits in 40gms last year, which would have been a pace of 131 hits over 82gms...would have been 3rd on Hawks forwards behind Byfuglien and Brouwer (ahead of Ladd)

Which is why I'd let Niemi go and try to sign Theodore or preferbly Turco...both would be good with this D in front of them. (if they'd sign for 2mil or so - which I'd bet they would)

Of the 5 the Hawks lost...the goal production lost is - 54 between Byfuglien (17), Ladd (17) and Versteeg (20)...

Could Makarov (0), Stahlberg (9g-40gms), and Bickell (3g-16gms) ...hit 54 between them? I also think 82 gms of Hossa nets more than 24, or Toews is better than the 25 he got as well. A full year of Bolland should get more than 6 also.
