Same here with my guy. I've been doing some separation training with "climb pads" which are very useful.

Temporary separation is all good. But when I'm out of focus from him for more than a minute he gets super anxious.

How have you guys worked with this to alleviate the anxiety?

When she was young we tried Kennel training. Huge mistake because the Rescue we got her from at the time had her in the same Kennel as her 3 brothers because they were overwhelmed.

All 3 were bigger than her and they would feed them all at the same time so she barley got any food and ate a lot of dog shit to survive.

So we went and got her a big metal Kennel built to handle her. Well, we put her in it and she literally broke a bunch of the TAC welds with her jaws and fought her way out. Bleeding gums and the whole 9. Must have brought back terrible memories for her. She Had night Terror's for a really long time. Very violent in her sleep.

Shortly after we found out she absolutely loved Chewy Bones. So we'd give her that with her Blanket and pillow when we left the house and she'd chew on the Bone until she passed out. Like a pacifier of sorts. It worked out great.

From time to time she'll still make a bed out of my dirty laundry or move my shoes throughout the house if I'm gone for an extended period but she won't chew on anything but her Bones.

Not at all. Being men, we seem less inclined to discuss and brag about bitches and using women as you get older. At that age, bragging and feeling you accomplished some remarkable feat is common. Unless you weren't part of a crowd that got laid a lot; I don't judge ;)

LOL @ despro in this thread. Between the delusions of grandeur, randomly capitalized and misspelled words, grammatical errors, random humble brag stories that make little to no sense, and persecution complex he's a goldmine of unintentional comedy. Just wow.

Anyways, in regards to the actual thread topic, sorry to hear about your dog DaaBears. I lost my yellow lab a few years ago to health issues but got off easy since he stayed up with the family when I moved to FL so I didn't have to watch him slowly degrade and take him to get put him down like my father did. He still to this day refuses to get another dog due to how difficult it was to put him down. I'd like to get another one myself but FL is no place for dogs IMO, at least not labs.

I have a boxer, he loves the water and the heat doesn't seem to bother him much.

Bully Breeds typically overheat the easiest. I know of a few stroking out from playing and not getting enough water in the Sauna that is the southeast.

What's bully breeds? Like the bulldog types? Never heard of that before.

I take Rex with me to the beach all day and he's fine as long as he has plenty of water and a little shade.
