You failed/dodged to answer my question, which leads me to believe that you understand how putting any kind of onus on the result of preseason games isn't astute.

Icehog does that he avoids the questions your lucky he hasn't threatened to beat you up yet. Or just say **** you I'm right your wrong.

Well the KHL obviously wants to prove something if they are wanting to play the NHL in a cup game or watever that game is Dewey posted. Whats funny is how the Hawks and the NHL have drafted other KHL guys and getting them to come over in thet States to play. The talent over there isn't as bad as what it is perceived. Its not quite NHL talent but it can be, and thats why the NHL is trying to work out all these agreements with them

Looking at those NHL numbers, there's a reason why he hasn't been in the league in 3 years.

But anyway, to say that the KHL is on par with the NHL in terms of top tier talent as well as overall talent is ridiculous. It's simply not.

The RSL has been the second best professional hockey league for years now (yes over the AHL). The top tier talent in the NHL is far better than the RSL's and is what separates the NHL as the best league in the world and by a pretty good margin. If you look past the top end talent in the NHL the mid level players are on par with the RSL's and they are more even than you think.

Sorry I have known the KHL as the Russian Super League for so long that I refer to it as such.

Young players do not get ice time in the KHL, it is not really a developmental league. Makarov saw very little ice time in Russia because of his age.

I think what seperates them is that the KHL has more of the veteran guys who aren't cap friendly with todays NHL. The younger guys come to the NHL to show their talent where these vets go play and make their money. The KHL president has even said he wants to try and attract these younger guys to come to the KHL. Buccigross, and Lebrun talk about quite a few time for ESPN about mergers. To me the KHL is a threat to the NHL because of the no cap and ability to offer tons of money to NHL talent

Ok matt let me ask you this then. Should the hawks bring Marcel over and give him top line minutes?

This is a direct result of the recession. Hockey was growing in the USA at a strong rate before the recession hit. It was growing young players in new areas which directly resulted in more fans and more revenue for teams.

You can see the sport heavily declining at the youth level in most areas because of the cost. I mean when good skates start at $500 and high end sticks cost $220 (I have around 2 grand in equipment) parents can't afford to get kids into the sport these days.

Once the economy fully recovers and the sport starts growing again the KHL will not be a threat to the NHL.
