C'mon I thought you knew more than this. Garza is not going to put the Cubs over the top and in my own opinion, would rather have Cashner, Carpetner and/or Archer in the rotation. Garza is good but he's not worth Lee, Archer, Carpetner and Chrinos. I can guarantee that and if you think that is, you're a dumb ass.

See here's the difference you hate the minors and don't follow it, while I love younger players-spects and I follow the minors. So there will be a differnce in opinions when it comes to that and I will not chnage mine.

This.

He isn't worth it. If we were in the 2008-2009 offseason, it would be worth that. But DEFINITELY not now.

Hold on, hold on, hold on... Who said they would give up Lee, Chirinos, Carp, and Archer? That's an awful deal. What Marlin is hearing is that it is Lee, Chirinos, a C level pitcher, and then the Cubs want to give another C level pitcher, but the Rays want Carp or JJax.

Hopefully we can come to a middle ground with someone like Dolis. If it were between Carp and JJax, I'd rather see us send them Carp.

I've never been high on Jackson. I'd send them LeMahieu and Dolis too if it could get them to give up on Lee.

Lee is the piece of that I don't want to give up. Think they'd take LeMahieu, Flaherty, Gonzalez, etc. plus a lower prospect instead of Lee by ANY chance?

If we did that, it would be absolutely Special person. We get that you are big on Lee, but it's a bit silly. Lee's ceiling is not that great. We already have Castro and I have serious concerns as to if his bat can hold up at 2B or 3B. Lee is one guy. He has not played a game above A ball, if he can be the centerpiece to the deal, we have to do it. Giving up all those other guys is silly, because I can almost guarantee you that their joint value will end up being more than Lee's.

OK, IC your point.

But why get Garza when we aren't contending and have a lot of Starting Pitching depth as it is? That would leave 2 sports for Wells, Silva, Gorzelanny, Coleman, Archer, McNutt, Cashner, Jackson, Carpenter, etc. (Yes, I realize that Jackson or Carpenter may be in the deal).

I'm not TOO big on Lee, not like I was with Castro and Cashner anyway. Right now I'm highest on Brett Jackson and Chris Archer (obviously).

I just like Lee's potential and quality of play. He did bat really well in the 2nd half after he made a few adjustments too.

The move isn't for this year. It's for down the road. That leaves 2 spots for Wells, Silva, Cashner, and Gorzo. Stop throwing in all these other names that aren't ready. Garza is a legit #2 option. If we can get that for 1 top 10 spec, then it'd be real dumb to say no.

I saw Lee play 30 games last year with Peoria. Has nice D at SS. Can run really well. His stick i believe will be the problem. Has that japanese swing i cant stand. With Castro already at SS trade depth. Lee, Chrinos (old prospect), Carpenter, then C level spec...i would jump on that and i think TBR would to... Garza only 27 and proved he can be 2-3 SP in MLB. Not saying he make you win this year but would help alot more then the other 4 guys we giving up. Garza still prolly be better then all 4 of those guys in 5 years.

I never heard TBR wanting Archer?... I heard the sticking point is Lee.

The sticking point is the 2nd pitcher I heard. The Cubs want to give them a C-level prospect, but they want another high-level pitcher.

Cubs take lead in Garza derby - Chicago Sun-Times
The Cubs appear to have moved past the Texas Rangers and into the driver’s seat in efforts to acquire Tampa Bay Rays 15-game winner Matt Garza — a potential move that could put the Cubs back into the National League Central title conversation for 2011.

A major-league source said Tuesday the Cubs were close to trading for the power-pitching right-hander, just as the Rangers were committing a big multiyear deal to third baseman Adrian Beltre and appeared to be pursuing free-agent closer Rafael Soriano. Those efforts come after the Rangers fell short in their efforts to use the money to keep big-ticket free-agent pitcher Cliff Lee.

Landing Garza — who has as many postseason wins as the returning Cubs roster combined — would be a significant response to upstart Cincinnati’s pitching-driven division title last season and division-rival Milwaukee’s trade for Cy Young winner Zack Greinke last month.

It's expected to be Lee and Chrinios and a pitcher. But it won't be Archer.

Ya, Archer is probably the hold-up now.
