Garza is not going to make the Cubs the that much better, they need their vets to play to their expectaions. Don't waste top spects and you might not even make the playoffs. Just stupid...period!

Look at FLA/DET deal. everyone thought FLA getting 2 prospect studs in Maybin and Miller. There not even in FLA anymore. They are called prospects for reason. Take the MLB guy EVERYTIME

I'd take the MLB player most of the time..

I don't see any harm in waiting till July to see if we are in contending mode.

Cracks me up that people dont want to lose a guy that they got for Derosa and is a prospect. Garza again is 27 and will help NOW and FUTURE. Archer we have NO IDEA what he will do NOW or FUTURE.

You don't give up your whole farm to get 1 guy. You have to have a good deal for him.

Garza makes them ALOT better. makes there SP 1-4 solid like MIL,STL,CIN...right now were only 3 deep in SP. Once again they are called prospects for reason. Garza still young and would help this year and FUTURE. Prospects we dont even know if they help in the FUTURE!!!:nelson:

Yeah, because we are totally giving up our whole farm... How many times do I have to explain this to you? Lee is a SS. We have this guy named Castro. Chirinos is about 4th on the C depth chart. While I don't want to see Archer or McNutt included, they don't make the whole farm.

IK, but he seems like the kind of guy who would give up Archer, B. Jackson, McNutt, Lee, and Vitters for Michael Young.

It still isn't the right way for the Cubs to go right now. And I meant if Archer and McNutt wer included, but the report was fake anyway.

Like your sig says, these are some pretty big assumptions. You flat out do not know this.

No, we do know that the report was fake. Olney and Muskat, among others, have both confirmed this.

Right, because they have never been wrong. We don't know until the deal is done(or isn't done)

I was just looking over this again. Barring no Archer or McNutt, this is definitely a deal a major win for the Cubbies. Lee, Chirinos, Carp, C spec would be a really good deal for us.

Buster Olney said a deal will likely happen in July.

Take it FWIW.

Muskat said Cubs officials were shocked at the report. They haven't even mentioned any names besides Garza's yet.

I guarantee you that is not true. We have been hearing about Garza for a month now. That is Hendry trying to hide a deal, something he is good at. I expect a deal to get done sometime in the next week or so.

Once again....

Cubs' closing in on a Garza trade:

Per ESPNChicago and the Daily Hearld:

The Cubs are going to send Archer, Lee, Chirnios and Guyer in a trade. WTF seriously! I wonder who else the Cubs are getting.

This is actually for real now......

Buster Olney even says the Cubs step up their pursuit for Garza fast and said it's like the Greinke/Brewers deal. Really, came fast and out of no where.

Bruce Levine: About 8 players could be involved. So far we know one coming to the Cubs and 4 going to the Rays. Interesting....

Be interesting to see what we get back in this deal. I honestly don't want Garza though.
