I actually don't think so because Archer is not going anywhere and JH would say it's not happening. But they are still close a trade.

The only way Archers is included is if, the Rays add another player than will help the Cubs in '11.

Probably not even then. Remember that Hendry said that Archer, Jackson, Cashner, Colvin, and Castro were untouchable.

Like Matt Garza and would love to have him barring us giving up any good prospects. Garza's numbers don't look that impressive but in reality he's really a good pitcher and has experience pitching in big games. Not to mention he's putting up solid numbers in the tough AL East.

They would have to give up good prospects actually. Lee is ranked #4.

I know they're going to have to give up some good prospects but I hope we don't overpay.

Buster Olney just tweeted this:

One well-placed source says this, as of this AM:Considering TB's current posture, it's more likely a Garza deal happens in July than now.

Again a false report about being close and then another Peavy/Roberts situation.

I wouldn't look too much into that, the Cubs writers have 2 against Oney one. Na IDK, but this has gone back and fourth and in my own opinion a deal is close. But do I want a deal to happen?? I honestly don't know.

I like the gain for the MLB team, dread the loss for the farm system.

JH needs to stay clam. He can't just make a trade for the sake of a trade.

That's what I think he's about to do or will do.

Ya, they Cubs have only done 1 trade all winter. It was just a Rule V Draft guy being traded to Texas.

Also another way I think a trade could be close...the Cubs 40 man roster currently stands at 41.

Are any of the prospects going to TB even on the 40-Man? Because it would bring it up to 42 by adding Garza otherwise.

I still don't see Archer being traded though, so it may still be at 41 then. And this means do Davis/O-Day deal if this goes down.

I honestly don't know now:

A tweet from Carrie Muskat...

A report that #Cubs are "close" to trading for Matt Garza surprised team officials. #Rays, who want a lot, more likely to wait until July

Knew it! Glad to not have to worry about losing Archer now.

Cracks me up that people dont want to lose a guy that they got for Derosa and is a prospect. Garza again is 27 and will help NOW and FUTURE. Archer we have NO IDEA what he will do NOW or FUTURE.

Look at FLA/DET deal. everyone thought FLA getting 2 prospect studs in Maybin and Miller. There not even in FLA anymore. They are called prospects for reason. Take the MLB guy EVERYTIME
