I hear that for the sake of inclusiveness George is mandating they find a leader of “them”. Scaring candidates away not named Marc trestman

Well, I was almost on board with McCarthy but I’m not sure now that Orlovsky is endorsing it. Such conflicted

Yea i was okay with MM, but now with this endorsement from orlovsky I want nothing to do with him.

Guys a grade A moron.

It's not so much hate on him as it is "what's to like?" For all the same reasons you listed about, we have no idea what his offense would be like outside of all that. Furthermore, his team was pretty sloppy while he was HC.

He didn't really show much to want him tbh. It is understandable given the situation, but still.

Also the idea of yet again forcing coaches on another coaching regime is ludicrous at this point. Have we learned nothing? You wanna bring Morgan along as OL coach too??
And you did read my very last point?

This is just the kind of bullshit back-up to the back-up plan’s back-up plan that happens when the Bears whiff hard on every single decent candidate and have to settle for some convoluted nightmare that will unravel even faster than Trestman and Eberflus did.

Curious who your choice would be for the next HC? I personally don't want MM and want Johnson but I am guessing Johnson will be headed elsewhere.

Ben Johnson, but the Bears have fucked that one up and everyone is just accepting their lame ass excuses for blowing it once again.

I actually do not hate the idea of Mike McCarthy but the idea of hiring McCarthy to be a bridge for Thomas Brown is just stupid. I simply do not understand why people are so enamored with Brown. The team was dreadful with him as passing game coordinator, then got worse when he took over as offensive coordinator, then got even worse when he took over as head coach.

lmao the same mccarthy that rodgers loathed??

gee, yeah, im sure caleb will really look up to mccarthy thanks to his rodgers fandom!!
Lol, McCarthy took the Packers job when Caleb was 5. Doubt he knew the inner workers of the Packers looker room at that age.

If the Bears spend top dollar for an established HC, I hope they don’t force the coach to put anyone on his staff that he doesn’t want. Let him use his connections to put together his own staff.

Our current OL coach is proof that the Bears old way of doing things doesn’t work.

How old was he when McCarthy left?! You know, the point when it became publicly known rodgers had disdain for McCarthy? Yet, you still think CW was influenced positively by this in favor of McCarthy?? Yeeeesh

And YOU were the one claiming it was some major influence. Now you’re saying it couldn’t influence him much since he was 5

Which is it?!

This might be your dumbest post, which is saying a lot. Rodgers' disdain for McCarthy is well-documented, and probably contributed to McCarthy being unable to land a HC gig right away after the Packers got rid of him. The only way for your post to make any sense is to conclude that Caleb Williams never aged past the point of being 5 years old, and he's remained 5 years old and is thus ignorant of documented history.

It would be like saying that since I wasn't born when George Washington was president, I am presently ignorant of George Washington.

If you get McCarthy you let him pick his OC. If that is Brown then fine. For all we know it might be someone like Kellen Moore.

There are pros and cons with McCarthy. When he has a talented roster, he can win with it. Not every coach can do that.

I don't know how he would do at developing Williams, which is the obvious key for the Bears. Rodgers was elite almost from the beginning after sitting behind Favre for three years. Prescott was a finished product when McCarthy came to Dallas. When deprived of either Rodgers or Prescott, however, his teams floundered.

His playoff record is so-so...He won a Super Bowl as a sixth seed, and has had teams bounced out of the first round as a higher seed. Not that the Bears have to worry about the playoffs just yet.

He's a mixed bag. My personal preference would be to pass on him. Rather than recycle a guy who has now been let go twice, let's try and find an up-and-comer.

The bad news is, the Bears track record in hiring coaches is, well, awful. But then, even a blind squirrel occasionally gets an acorn, so perhaps there is hope.

Just not a lot of it.

Mike McCarthy would probably be our best head coach since Lovie, and he’s probably better. He has a similar resume to Mike Ditka. Having said that, I think there are better candidates.

If they hire anyone they should let them bring their own guy. I get it when you have a holdover like Nick Fangio. Seriously, Thomas Brown is not the Nick Fangio of offensive assistants.

This. I didn't want Mike average and Orlovsky's just confirmed it.

Bears flew McCarthy in private jet to Chicago Executive to meet all day today. It sounds like this might happen as early as tonight.

Dallas sucked this year with the great Cooper Rush at the helm for most of it, and Dallas regularly chokes in the playoffs (Dak's ceiling) and blame it on MM. He's pretty good. Is he Reid good? No. Is he just as good as a coach like MLF? I think so.
