Everyone in Phoenix (along with Shanahan) refuses to acknowledge that it was incidental contact! Shit happens... when Mike Smith plays the puck as often as he does eventually he's going to get hit by an opponent who is hard on the forecheck. Unfortunately his head was clipped but the fault should have been equally placed.

If you want the video, his last stride was just before the faceoff dot. He was gliding all the way in. Sure he was skating a bit hard before that but he wasn't exactly power striding to get to the puck like it was going to be icing or something. Either way the organization sucks for this one. If he was concussed and they didn't take him out last night they should be fined for improper procedures. If he does play tonight they will look like jackasses.

The real problem is that they even HAVE a supplemental discipline office. Write a sound rule book that the BoGs and NHLPA agrees upon, and use it CONSISTENTLY.
