Come on variable you have watched enough hockey to know what an embelishment looks like. That was one. Im not talking about staying on the ice and his knees for 10 minutes i dont blame a guy for wanting to be checked out. Im talking about flailing your arms around like your hailing a cab in newyork and acting like acid was dumped on you. Getting your bell rung hurts but i have never seen any player go down like that off a head shot in any sport.

Soccer makes game changing flailling embelishments when not even hit as part of the game plan. Lol

Alright so wait a second, haha. Now, now it's not that he was down and being checked out that is the big deal. That's fine to make sure he's okay. So...okay. But NOW it's his immediate reaction to the hit in which causes that to happen (physician coming out to make sure he's ok)? Now it's that instinct to grab your head after you get hit in the head and how "dramatic" it is that is causing the big uproar and the proof of him faking it? How the hell do you even prove that?

This is what I'm talking about, it's so irrelevant. Do we actually need to have a discussion on that? How a player's body reacts as his helmet is being turned sideways on his head from a shoulder hitting him? That's what the focus is on? The immediate reaction of someone as that happens? He threw off his gloves and grabbed his face. What reaction do you want to prove that it wasn't an embellishment? Being paralyzed? Give me a break man.

Yah I knew you were going to read it like that. Wasn't a very well formed post on my part. My bad it was sloppy.

Im done with the Smith shit anyways. You can question my mentality as a fan all you want but I am not the one who said that the play wasn't a deserving penalty. I agreed with a penalty. I am not the one wearing the bias around here. i hate head shots intentional or not I have made my stance on that a million times. I also find embellishing them as injuries to be horrible and counterproductive also (and i know your argument on subjectivity but its not swaying me from my poor hockey fan mentality saying it was). All signs from the point of contact to him finishing the game strong points to an embellishment in my weak hockey fan mentality.

To really put a bee in peoples bonnets Smith is a puck playing goalkeeper...best in the league...he should be prepared to be hit. LOL I don't really believe that but I had to say it before someone else did.

Smith goes behind the net and waits with the puck slowing down the forecheck. Other goalies play the puck quickly and get back to their net.

I just don't understand how you can in one breath say it's okay for a guy to be careful and to make sure but then say he embellished at the same time when there's nothing to embellish. That shoulder literally turned his head and helmet around to the side. So it can't be that he was stunned and was okay after a few minutes. Can't be that. It's either he was faking it or they're taking him off on a stretcher. Come on guys. I get it, it's the playoffs, but come on. It always seems to devolve into stupid shit like this.

so him throwing his head back hard enough to give him whiplash, throwing both of his gloves off mid 360, and then acting like a corpse until Shaw gets kicked out of the game (and then he is all of a sudden 100%) doesn't strike you as an embellishment at all?

It was a bullshit call, the game misconduct. The 5 minutes was, in my opinion, too much. Ill give you 2 minutes. I wouldn't be happy with a double minor, either, but I could get that.

Uhh he got hit in the head. That's why his head snapped back. I get being a homer and all, I really do, but...... seriously with this shit? Really? One of his gloves looked like came off during the hit from the impact, the other he just took off. It's silly to even have to explain things like this though, because it really makes no difference how he fucking took his gloves off. I just......don't get this mind set, this idea that because you got hit in the head and you reacted like you got hit in the head, you're faking it. Or because you turned out okay, you faked that reaction. It's complete bullshit.

That is the kicker to all of this....the magic recovery after looking like he had a major injury and attended to for a very long time. Being attended to for a very long time usually suggests that there is a serious enough injury that he needed to leave the ice...but hey we are biased fans or time counters according to some...

Hell, even President Kennedy didn't do a full twisting pirouette when he received his two upper-body injuries.

okay, you're right. My Bad. Though, both Klemmer and I (Goaltenders who have been run a number of itmes) are calling it a dive. But you (some guy) will teach us all.

Rex, Malarchuk was not hit in the head....so it will not be the same for some. Lol.

But damn, I always forget how bad that looked when it happened, and how everyone reacted like people will for a serious injury. Wonder where all of that reaction was for how "seriously" Smith was injured. Where was all those Yotes coming over in concern for their goaltender who was obviously seriously injured by the obvious Chevy Chase fall to the ice.

Why am I still commenting on this?

Smith was throwing his gloves before the hit was even over. And the speed at which he spun did'nt appear to match the impact required to create such a reaction.

Could a 180 lbs guy moving 1/3 his top speed, that tries to avoid the goalie, which is 6'4" and over 200 lbs. be able to create that type of effect?

Isn't a player who receives a head shot, supposed to be forced to a "quiet room", and be evaluated. Like Halak was ? Or Alfredsson?
