My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
I’ll be honest, no one has moved the needle for me.

I think it comes down to what is more valuable to this organization right now - culture vs scheme?

Unfortunately, the HC candidates you would categorize as culture guys are all defensive head coaches. There aren’t any Andy Reid or Sean McVay’s.

At this current moment in time, I have a small lean towards Vrabel because I think the Bears are in a similar position as the Chargers/Lions were when they hired Harbaugh and Campbell. Rather than the Niners and Packers for example who hired the best offensive scheme guys when their organizations were already well oiled machines.

I wonder what percentage of newly hired head coaches make it to a second contract. The Bears have had exactly one (Lovie) since the Ditka days. I'm curious what the league wide percentage is.

No this is pretty stupid. It is pretty obvious NFL people thought LaFleur was a good OC stuck with a shitty QB because the Packers hired him to be HC after his stint with the Titans.

Only stupid uneducated fans blame all failures on a coach. No one cares what you think as you dont make decisions. All that matters here is LaFleur was considered a good OC and HC candidate despite not being able to turn Mariotta into a viable QB.
It’s pretty obvious the Packers had eyes on LaFleur prior to being hired by the Titans. How many OCs get HC jobs after having one of the worst offenses in the league. Slim to none.

Am I sitting here blaming LaFleur for all the failures? Nope, don’t think I once mentioned that. Learn to read. All I’ve said was LaFleur had one of the worst offenses in the league that year. At that time Vrabel’s decision at OC was poor. LaFleur didn’t get a HC job and go on to have success because of Vrabel.

Lol, I was agreeing with you. You're not getting me sucked in man. lol
And I am agreeing with you back.

I don’t know what young quarterback he has developed, but he has taught an old dog some new tricks. He has Jared Goff playing at the highest level of his career, even though golf was with McVay.

There are many factors in involved that would affect Goff’s play, but I don’t think you can debate that Johnson has elevated him above where he has been before.
Not disputing that at all. Just saying that doesnt necessarily mean he can do the same for a young QB.

He elevated Goffs game. Doesn’t matter if the QB is young or not.

Working with a young QB is different than working with a seasoned vet. Johnson may in fact be able to do both but we dont know that for a fact.

Of course they had eyes on him before the Titans because he was considered a good OC. That is why Vrabel hired him. He didnt just magically become a bad OC that one year with the Titans. He just had bad personnel.

So no Vrabel's decision to hire him was correct and that is borne out by the fact the Packers gave him a HC job one year later.

The point was never that Vrabel made him a good OC or that his success was due to Vrabel. The point was Vrabel has shown the ability to hire good OCs/Coaches in the past. Something that a lot of Bears HCs struggle to do. So very little reason to think he can't do it again with the Bears.

The Chicago Bears as a franchise, organization, and football team, is what it’s going to be as long as the McCaskeys own it

They have taken this franchise to the level that they are comfortable with. No matter who gets hired they will impose their ideologies onto the new hire.

They hope to win, they don’t want to win. Tgey want a clean and moral image over everything, yet they are looked at as the laughingstock of fans, players on other teams, and the media. They praise coaches of holding the team together during 6/7 game losing streaks. So now losing streaks are not only acceptable, but now they are the norm.

They’re just stupid. You know, the McStupids.

Technically they can franchsie tag him up to 3 times I believe.

Either way, only way caleb is traded is if the bears want to get rid of him. If caleb wanted out of chicago that time was pre-draft, he has absolutely zero leverage now
Wouldn't say Zero leverage. He could always say trade me or I'm retiring.. he did make about 10mil in college, so I'm sure if he wanted he could force a trade.

I'm not a Vrabel hater, but hiring yet another defensive-minded coach would be so Bears and have a much higher bust likelihood.

It’s about offensive system more than QB age

Josh McDaniels has a good offensive system and he was terrible as a HC. Trestman had a good offensive system and he was terrible as a HC.

So no it is more than just offensive system. It remains to be seen if BJ has the ability to coach a young QB or command an entire team. That doesnt mean we shouldnt hire him but we should stop pretending there arent unknowns here.

Why not the OC from Tampa Bay? Mayfield is having a great season. They destroyed the #1 scoring defense yesterday. Why hasn’t his name been brought up?

How was he considered a good OC when McVay was calling plays? Vrabel more than likely hired him because he was an up and coming young guy working under a great HC. Yes he was a bad OV because of player personnel but it wa also his first year calling plays. Doesn’t change the fact he was a bad OC.

Vrabel did not hire a good OC for the Titans. What LaFleur did/has done with the Packers has no relevance to his time with the Titans.

Oh I understand what the point is but your point that LaFleur was a good OC hire at the time is incorrect. He couldn’t elevate the players he and that one season. However Smith was a very good hire. Vrabel has hired one successful OC for the TITANS.

I have no idea how good Josh McDaniel’s offensive system is because we never saw it work with any quarterback other than Tom Brady

Except the Packers disagree with you and I will trust them over you considering how LaFleur turned out.

What you arent accounting for is NFL teams have more info than you to tell a guy is good even if the results arent there. Lol at your pretending you know more from your couch.

You think Lafleur was a bad OC because he “didn’t elevate “ poor offensive players in one season?

Except this has nothing to do with the Packers. This is who Vrabel hired as OC for the TITANS. and for the TITANS, LaFleur was pretty damn bad. No one knew LaFleur was going to have success.

No shit they have more info. That’s why I said the Packers were eyeing LaFleur prior to him joining the Titans. They saw a young and upcoming guy from the McVay tree. That doesn’t change the fact that he was a poor OC for the Titans and at the time a bad hire by Vrabel. The Packers took a chance on him and it worked out.

I could say the same thing right at you Mr “know it all” LMFAO.
