Yeah this logic is just dumb. Sorry. I trust NFL people who thought he was a good enough OC to make him HC.
It’s not dumb at all. Vrabel hired LaFleur from the Rams and had a terrible year as an OC. At that time Vrabel’s hire was bad. LaFleur being hired by the Packers and having success there literally has nothing to do with Vrabel. You better believe the Packers had their eye on LaFleur when he was with the Rams. Your logic is what’s stupid.. trying to give Vrabel credit for something he didn’t do.

I can’t see Daboll choosing the Bears over going back to the Bills. This is my main argument against Joe Brady, why hire him over Daboll?
Why does everybody think Daboll is such a good coach?

If I'm forced to chose, I'd rather have Johnson. His development, of Caleb Williams, is what they're hiring him for. I'm just not feeling the idea of Vrabel. In another situation, maybe, just not at this current time.

Brady had a hand in Joe Burrow's development at LSU and has elevated Josh Allen and the Bills offense. That's the dude you're looking at if you're going the offensive route.

Still, I'd rather take a shot at him being HC, than OC. No thank you to Vrabel, no matter how you spin it.

Does he bring the lions OL with him?

I'd guess he'd bring the Run Game Coordinator, and maybe an assistant O Line coach or two. That would be the smart way to go about it.

100% shot, when your run game is averaging 5+ YPC you can call stupid plays(Like ben johnson does too) and still be fine on 3rd down.

Think some of you dont comprehend the difference a dominant OL/DL makes and how easy it makes life for a QB/playcaller in the NFL

BJ would not magically make the bears offense look good this year because the OL is shit and the run game is shit. This all starts in the front office.
Every OC calls “stupid plays”

No OC is a wizard who calls omnipotent plays every down. Fact of the matter is, BJ has had a top 5 offense each of the last 3 seasons he’s been OC. Can’t really argue with those results. KC has a great OL, one of the best HC of all time, and the potential GOAT at QB and they aren’t putting up those numbers so….i guess continue to downplay what BJ is doing if you are so inclined

KC has a great interior offensive line. Their tackles suck.

No this is pretty stupid. It is pretty obvious NFL people thought LaFleur was a good OC stuck with a shitty QB because the Packers hired him to be HC after his stint with the Titans.

Only stupid uneducated fans blame all failures on a coach. No one cares what you think as you dont make decisions. All that matters here is LaFleur was considered a good OC and HC candidate despite not being able to turn Mariotta into a viable QB.

What young QB has Ben Johnson developed?

I can't speak on Detroit's backups, and PS QB. But, to try and say he's not a factor of Goff reaching his potential, would be absurd.

That being said, I would have to answer "none/I don't know" I'm not getting sucked into the vortex man. ;)

That is my point. Working with Goff isn't the same thing as working with a young QB so we don't know if he can develop a young QB.

I don’t know what young quarterback he has developed, but he has taught an old dog some new tricks. He has Jared Goff playing at the highest level of his career, even though golf was with McVay.

There are many factors in involved that would affect Goff’s play, but I don’t think you can debate that Johnson has elevated him above where he has been before.

of the two I would prefer Vrabel and the experience. Someone who has proven they can do the simple things right like manage the clock or challenge a play.

Johnson may be a star, but I have nightmares of Nagy 2.0 (unwilling to bend. what, they are bad against the run? I'm gonna pass! 'cause MY WAY!) then there was Trestman. Basically, we haven't done will with an offensive HC since Ditka and what our okay defensive coaches have mostly missed was a good QB and we have that now, so that with a top 5 D and we're a consistent playoff team.

That said, whoever we get, Vrabel, Johnson, or Kevin Warren's challenged nephew, I'll root for them because I'm an old Bears fan fool.
The only difference from Nagy and Johnson is that Johnson doesn’t sound like he’s all about hopes and dreams. He carries himself different that Nagy. Plus he is doing what he’s doing with Goff, not Mahomes and Andy Reid there.

That doesn’t translate to head coach success, but just stating a difference or two.
