A WR that is big but slower like ARob is going to have to win jump balls to be a deep threat. It is not like he is running 2 or 3 yards ahead of the DB. So sure, some of those balls could have been thrown better but his back shoulder catching ability has been terrible this year.

ARob has cracked over 4 YAC only once. Diggs 4 times. He is being used more as a possession WR in Buffalo but he historically has had more YAC ability than ARob.
Why are you comparing Diggs to Robinson by the way? My point in this thread to the OP is that Arob is a star receiver. Maybe I went off track.. at any rate, you mean like these:

You don't break the bank for Mitch but I do think you find some common ground to bring him back for another year or two.

Have to see if this is for real. it sucks that this growth is happening now but a lot of that I think falls on Matt Nagy for trying to fit Mitch into a system that doesn't work rather than fitting his system around Mitch.

Because people were posting WRs they thought were better than ARob and I posted mine.

Yes he was better at it in 2019 but this was a contract year and he has disappointed in that regard. ARob is a very good WR but I don't think he is worth 18m a year given our current cap situation.

Think we should use the money not spent on ARob and 4M to rebuild the OL with guys that can actually play well against top competition. I would try and sign a RT and OG then look at QB, LT, and WR in the draft unless we can beat GB and make some noise in the playoffs.

Thats the damning part....Sure, some don't want mitch back, but there is really no other alternative unless you want to go full tank mode.

That is funny because I see it from Mitch's point of view and frankly the Bears do not deserve his services. If I was him I would say fuck you on the way out the door.

Yes but to go where? The question is where else can he get a good starting gig? Best fit may be the Niners but only if they dump JG.

Not a lot of coaches like the idea of having to redesign an O because the QB cant operate from the pocket well.

how many games, since Mitch has been here, do you guys think the Offense was designed to take advantage of his strengths?

Approximately maybe half a dozen games in his career thus far.

I wouldn't worry about that. Let the chips fall where they may but I would not be putting myself into a situation with the same team that tried their best to ruin my career.

Patriots might like someone other than Newton next year.

I've only ever rooted for one football team my entire life. The Bears. However they've proven, nearly my entire lifetime, to not be worthy of any quarterbacks worth a shit. They have no idea what to do with them. Its not a coincidence they've all failed no matter their talent level. This organization will forever be stuck in the past relying on defense. Its their crutch that never allows them to join modern football.

Change my mind.

Well I...nevermind you’re not wrong, I just don’t think Mitch would be that good with anyone else. Hoping he makes me look stupid against the Packers Sunday

We have never put a QB in a great situation to grow and succeed as a player. We won't ever have an elite QB until we have the environment for him to succeed. With how much everyone shits on every QB we have, it's pretty clear that a lot of people either don't realize that, or don't care, and just want someone to shit on.

We'll never really know with Trubisky, because we basically wasted 3 1/2 years of his career and potential growth with garbage. I'm not trying to absolve him of any blame, but Chicago is where QBs go to never get any better. Lol.

We need to get rid of Ted Phillips first and foremost. This 3-game win streak against bad teams probably saves everyone's job. But I still don't trust Matt Nagy to develop another QB. Does anyone? With that thinking, why bring him back?

Fuck this organization. It's 2020, and it's still 1985 at Halas Hall.

It really does make me sad to arrive at this same conclusion. I still remember when I was a wide eyed Bears fanatic in the true sense of the word. It affected my mood and self worth entirely too much for some stupid reason. I guess when you're young you make stupid decisions on what to attach your emotions to. Now I can watch a game, see them be complete fucking fools and just shrug it off as same old Bears and get back to normal life. In a sense its sad I've become indifferent for my favorite sports team. But at the same time its unhealthy how much I used to obsess over football and the Bears.

Here’s the thing tho @sevvy and @xer0h0ur: is there any QB in history besides Mitch that the Bears drafted who you think would have been a star with another team? I think they just suck at evaluating QBs, Mitch included

It would be completely disingenuous for either of us to say its a definitive yes or no. The only times I felt we had a competent enough quarterback in my lifetime was Orton and Cutler. Neither of them were ever handed a team worth a shit to truly compete with. Whether you're talking about the people they're throwing to or the people protecting them.

Mind you even I am omitting Trubisky from this list. Because I just don't know. He kinda does have a decent set of playmakers but the offensive line was dogshit for years too. I just don't know.

Stopped reading when they said Robinson isn’ta star receiver lol what? He accounts for like 78% or some ridiculous number of our passing yards

I stopped reading at " Matt Nagy and Mitch Trubisky might have saved their jobs for next season. "

Way too early to call that and I hope the McCaskeys are telling them how big the upcoming game vs GB is.
