You forgot Mary Tyler Moore

The Mary Tyler Moore Show (originally known simply by the name of the show's star, Mary Tyler Moore) is an American television sitcom created by James L. Brooks and Allan Burns that aired on CBS from 1970 to 1977. The program was a television breakthrough, with the first never-married, independent career woman as the central character: "As Mary Richards, a single woman in her thirties, Moore presented a character different from other single TV women of the time. She was not widowed or divorced or seeking a man to support her."[1]

It has also been cited as "one of the most acclaimed television programs ever produced" in US television history.[1] It received high praise from critics, including Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series three years in a row (1975–77), and continued to be honored long after the final episode aired.

Roseanne. Lots of fat people in need of a shower

Seems about right when you're trying to portray a lower class working family.

Never liked the show though. Rosanne Barr is annoying as **** and as the lead character, she was the least interesting person.

Maybe you might better understand if you watched full episodes of the shows and absorbed the characters/plot a little bit, just a suggestion.

IMO its always a bit suspect to know a little bit of fragmented information on a topic and then come to a nice big broad conclusion.... but to each their own, deny yourself the majesty of GoT if you must :)

I've told 2 people to watch 3 episode in their entirety and go from them. Both are hooked. Also, I told them EVERYTHING as shocking as it seems happens for a reason. Also, told them DON'T get attached to any character. GOT is unlike anything I've ever watched. I highly suggest it to everyone.

Here is a clip from a Roseanne show. One of the cast members plays a neighbor. In real life she is the Legendary Bonnie Bramlet ()blonde chick). Roseanne butchers the song for 20 second until Bonnie rescues them

My brain is a multimedia Rolodex.

Unfortunately, that's about all it's good for.
:marshmallow:

(Some of those weren't sitcoms btw... I was just thinking of shows with women as lead actors)

Twin Peaks.

Never before have I seen a show that was so highly touted and hyped, only to watch a horribly acted , oddball stupid( I like David Lynch) shit plot of a series. I still get mad I wasted time watching that show.

I tried getting into Game of Thrones multiple times now. All I got out of it was violence, beheading of horses, dead dogs, family feuds, winter zombies and brother/sister bangin.

Would you have enjoyed it if Ned and Robert were more brofabulous and when Robert got all worked up Ned would run up on him like "Yo Your Grace.... Chill Your Grace...." and then they put on matching flat brimmed hats and drank 40s of Old Style?

Maude: Spinoff. Marginally successful
Police Woman: Not a sitcom
Rhoda: Spin off. Did not do well.
Ally McBeal: came out after Roseanne
Cagney and Lacy: Not a sitcom
Wonder Woman: Not a sitcom
Xena: Came out after Roseanne...not a sitcom
Caroline in the City: After Roseanne
Golden Girls: Multiple female leads
Murphy Brown: Started after Roseanne

Overall, I'm left with only one question: Do you have a brain?

I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but I'm smart enough to recognize a message board **** when I see one.

Sue me for thinking Rosanne was a 90's show instead of an 80's... and I already admitted in another post that some of those shows were dramas and that I was just rolling out names. Also, I couldn't care less if the relevant shows weren't popular or were produced with more than a single lead woman. Rosanne Barr was not the first big star or leading lady since Lucille Ball.

Alice, One Day at a Time, That Girl, Kate & Allie, Designing Women, Gimme a Break, Facts of Life, Mama's Family, Laverne & Shirley, Bewtiched, I Dream of Jeannie, etc.

Survivor and American Idol.

I’m always surprised when I hear a new season of either of them is coming out.

Actually, any of the “talent” reality shows. The Voice, America’s Got talent, etc…
