Re:OT: Movie talk
Watched Terminator Salvation last week with low expectations and I still came out feeling dirty for sitting throughout the entire movie. It was just horrid all round. Don't even want to get into explaining why I felt this way, but I just wish that Hollywood would just allow some of the original scripts writers to actually grow and show their stuff as opposed to just trying to recycle the same stories, concepts over and over again.
I was so disgusted by the movie, I had to go home and watch a movie I hadn't watched in a very long time 'Once upon a time in the West' - one of the truly great, if not the best Western movie of all time. I'm not even old, but it's hard not to appreciate that movie if you have the patience to watch a classic western style movie. It's just fantastic.
During Salvation I saw the trailer of 'Public Enemies' and hmm, I don't know didn't seem to look that great. A movie I've been eager to watch ever since I read that Mann, and Depp were signed on for the movie a few years back, but the first trailer left me a little iffy about how the movie may be like. I really wish that Mann would finally stop his fascination of wanting to film his movies with handhelds. It kind of worked for 'Miami Vice' and maybe even for 'Collateral' in a way, but for a period piece that could be a great movie, I wish he didn't use a handheld style again.
