Re:OT: Movie talk

I liked the new Star Trek movie, although it felt at times as though it didn't know whether it was trying to do something new or please the old fans.

The Terminator trailers look awful to me, as a huge fan of the original two movies (Terminator 2 is my favourite movie of all time). It doesn't look like a Terminator movie at all, it looks like a crappy ad for video game or something. I hate how everything has to be driven into the ground until no more money can be milked from it long after the good ideas are gone.

I've heard good things about the Star Trek movie, enough that I might check it out whereas I normally wouldn't have. I'll probably catch the new terminator movie too. The trailer to me looks like it could go either way.

I saw Forgetting Sara Marshall on HBO yesterday and omg what a great move. Jason Segal was hilarious and Mila Kunis and the other girl were beautiful.

I finally watched Pineapple Express. I thought it was pretty entertaining, but kind of a throw away. I wouldn't tell anyone they needed to go see it, but if you like Seth Rogen then it was a fun diversion for a couple hours.

I thought 'Star trek' was Ok for what it was.

A fun popcorn summer movie, but it with huge plot holes.

Really? I didnt notice many. Not to say it isnt true. You may be correct. What were your biggest issues with it?

* Why didn't Nero try to save Romulus from the solar flare?

* The odds on young Spock sending Kirk to the 'Ice Planet' are pretty much zero, let alone both the 'old Spock' and Scotty be down there.

* What happened to Sulu's phazer on when they landed on the drilling rig? He only brought a sword!?

**Spoiler Alert**

**Last chance**

Good points. He didnt try to save it because it wasnt 'his' romulus.

Agree with your second point.

As far point #3. You never bring a phazer to a sword fight. its a man law.

I've seen Monsters vs Aliens twice. I thought it was enjoyable, especially for a kids movie which are always hit or miss. I probably wouldn't recommend it if you don't have a kid who wants to see it, but if you do you'll like it.

Use a spoiler tag when discussing newer movies.

You simply put your text between the [ spoiler ] and [ /spoiler ] tags(without spaces) and it creates something that you click on to see the spoiler.

Thanks, I am taking my kids then.

I am also looking forward to the "Night at the Museum Part 2" - my 3 year old loved it at the time. He really wants to watch that movie.

Re:OT: Movie talk

Finally got around to seeing star trek tonight.

I thought it was excellent. I'm not a trekkie by any stretch. I watched my share of the original growing up, and I enjoyed "the next generation" for awhile, but I've never watched any of the other subsidiaries, and I wasn't an avid fan of either of the original shows.

Still, they did a great job introducing the characters while not trying to be the characters. I thought pretty much everyone did a great job in the film.

Re:OT: Movie talk

Has anyone watched the Terminator?

The trailers looked very promising but from what I read of the reviews, that miss on the plot. Hmm, something I still want to watch though, especially after the disaster of the third installment.

I definitely want to watch State of Play. Awesome casts, and the story looks interesting as well. A story that actual seems to have some substance that you can sink your teeth into.

Then of course there will be TRANSFORMERS!! Yes, I'm 27 but I become giddy every time I think about the movie coming out. Brings to kid out of me!

I have been turned off of the new terminator movie by the reviews, much like the new Wolverine movie. Both movies I was initially very excited for, but poor reviews have put them on the "if I get around to it list", and I'm so busy I know I won't get around to it.

We almost saw State of Play instead of Star Trek, and in fact, we were going to go see that instead, except that the only time here was 7:30, and we wanted to see an earlier movie, so Star Trek because it was at 5:30. State of Play's early showing was 4:10 which proved too early.

I'm also excited for the new transformers movie. The first one hit very close to the mark to be an outstanding movie, but they added a bit too much "humor" into it stopping it from being a tremendous action flick.

I would have been good if they removed the kid/guy from the story for the sequel and made it primarily about the transformers, as his acting was pretty mediocre and the love story thing going on there was horrible and looks to be poor in this one as well.

This one still looks good though, it looks like they're going to put in more action, and hopefully they do a better job with the comic relief scenes keeping them in line with the rest of the movie or just get rid of them all together.

Either way, I expect something that's at least eye pleasing and fun even if they don't completely hit the mark.

I hated the new Terminator movie.

Ridiculous plot and terribly cheesy dialogue. The whole time Christian Bale kept speaking in his Batman voice. The awful hollow metallic sound effects must have been borrowed straight from 'War of the Worlds'.

The day the earth stood still was horrible. Ive never felt like throwing a drink at the movie screen (in the theater, of course) until I saw that movie. Horrible plot, horrible acting, horrible everything.

It truly was a waste of 2 hours.
