Re:OT: Movie talk
I'm a huge movie and cinema fan, but I must say I've been more drawn towards TV series in recent times, just because they seem to have more flexibility and better writing. I can't even remember the last good movie I've watched, though I do remember the last movie I watched was Watchmen and I was extremely underwhelmed.
I tend to watch the bigger block buster or action type of movies at the cinemas, and leave the others to watch at home, because I don't feel it's worth watching dramas, romance or comedies at the cinemas unless it's with a group of people or if your girly gives you the dirty look if you say no.
I managed to get a copy of the pre-production print version of the new Wolverine film and though there are certain parts of the movie where you can see the roping and blue screen where they intend to put in special effects over, the movie was a disappointment. I guess the bar has been risen to an extent with Iron Man and the 2 Nolan Batman movies that all the other comic back adaptation movies just don't seem to fair in comparison.
Oh, before Watchmen I also watched 'Knowing' and though I absolutely love the director(which is the reason why I watched it) as he made 2 of my favorite movies(amongst other) 'The Crow' and 'Dark City', I think my passionate dislike for Nicolas Cage was too strong, and the ending just wasn't executed well.
I'm very much looking forward to;
Block-busters
Public Enemies: I love Michael Mann and his movies, especially' Heat'. I need to watch that movie at least twice a year, that's how much I love it. Though Miami Vice was a little underwhelming it was still entertaining I thought, but way below Mann's usual standards, I expect him to get back to form with this movie.
Terminator Salvation: I was a little iffy about this movie, once Cameron left after the second, the third just didn't have that dark feel to it and it just wasn't the same. But I saw the trailer watching 'Watchmen' and I must say I'm actually eager to watch it, it seems to be a lot grittier than the third and I'm looking forward to how they advance the technology with the robots.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: How can you not look forward to Transformers?
G.I Joe: The Rise of the Cobra: I know i know, it looks stupid. But sometimes stupid can be good for a laugh.
Others on my list to watch
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3: Just looks awesome. You can't go wrong with Tony Scott and Denzel if you want an action drama movie, and then add in a sinister looking Travolta, I think we've got a good one here folks.
Inglorious Bastards: Quentin Taratino, enough said.
Shutter Island: Martin Scorsese, enough said. I just realized I may be drawn to directors more than the actors/actresses.
Where the Wild Things are: Again, another director I really like, Spike Jonze. It just looks like a quirky-dream like type of movie that I'm hoping will be good.
Wolf Man: Del Toro, C'mon, how can anyone not be excited about this movie?!
Alright, rambled on long enough.
