Yes it looks really bad. This movie has been done over and over again.

Watched Slum dog Millionaire for the first time last night, what a good movie. I've really only heard good things about it since it's release. And to think I chose to see seven pounds (which I thought was horrible) over slumdog a few months ago.

OT: Wolverine DVD Quality Movie Leaked

From thisis50.com

In a case of piracy that some analysts called unprecedented, untold thousands of people watched a version of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” online Wednesday, a full month before its scheduled theater release.
The film’s distributor, 20th Century Fox, said it did not know how the unfinished copy of the comic book adaptation was leaked onto the Internet. The copy was missing many special effects and included temporary sound and music. Nonetheless, it circulated widely online beginning late Tuesday, even prompting some viewers to publish reviews, favorable and unfavorable, of the hotly anticipated film. “Wolverine” stars Hugh Jackman in the title role and is set to open on May 1.

The troubling leak — which some people initially dismissed as an April Fool’s Day prank — occurred at a time when media companies are working harder than ever to curtail digital piracy of content. Illicit recordings of films usually appear on the Internet shortly after their theater debuts, but leaks before the premiere dates are rare. Hollywood studios spend millions of dollars to track every step of the film production process to avoid such potentially costly leaks.

Eric Garland, the chief executive of the file-sharing monitoring firm BigChampagne, called the widespread downloading of “Wolverine” a “one-of-a-kind case.” “We’ve never seen a high-profile film — a film of this budget, a tentpole movie with this box office potential — leak in any form this early,” he said.

The studio, a unit of the News Corporation, spent the day demanding that copies of the film be removed from the largely anonymous swath of Web sites that swap movie files. But the copies propagated at such a swift rate that the digital cops could not keep up. BigChampagne estimated the digital film copy had been downloaded in the low hundreds of thousands of times in its first 24 hours on the Internet.

The studio said the F.B.I. and the Motion Picture Association of America were both investigating the film’s premature distribution.

“The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the company said, adding “the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts in the past.”

Man this is a big hit towards that movie, so much hype. My bootleg DVD guy already told me he will have it Saturday.

First was Body of Lies. I loved it.

Second was Wanted. Its one of the worst pieces of trash I've seen in awhile.

Anyone think Adventure Land will be any good?

I think it has some potential. I'm not sure if it looks a little too teenie bopperish to me, but it still looked like it would definitely have it's moments.

Movies I'm looking forward to this summer (in no particular order that I remember off the top of my head):

Terminator Salvation
Star Trek (the trailer has won me over a bit whereas I wasn't before)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Wolverine
Up
Year 1
Public Enemies
Harry Potter 6
Funny People

You need to add michael camerons 'avatar'. trust me.

Borat was one of my favorite movies ever. It was just way too funny.

I'll definitely see Bruno when it comes out, but I don't think it will be anywhere near as funny as Borat. An obnoxious *** guy just isn't as funny as an Obnoxious Kazakhstani guy.

I think I might go and see Adventure Land tonight as well.

My wife and I are seeing Adventureland tomorrow rather that going to the Bulls game, she's got some back problems and doesn't want to do the drive in the city because it's too hard on her.

Well we're going to go to an evening movie, so I'll watch the game before going. Just had the babysitter shift times.

I thought Adventure Land was pretty good. It seemed to be aiming more at the love story more so than trying to get laughs, like Super Bad.

But the laughs are definitely there. They don't try to hard for the laughs, they're all pretty good.

Re:OT: Movie talk

I feel like I should get on this, as I'm a movie buff. I love watching movies and I'm a carrier of a Gold card to the theaters in Copenhagen. Oh yeah, I rock.

I recently saw Watchmen. Probably the most accurate movie based on a graphic novel. But since I did not like the graphic novel, I didn't like the movie. I just had to see it because of Rorschach.

The new Batman franchise is a favorite of mine, as I'm a huge Batman geek. I buys comics, often watch the 1992 Animated Series (Best animated series ever. Period. In every genre)

Then obviously, there's the classics (in no order):

Star Wars (4-6)
Indiana Jones (1-3)
The Godfather (The first one)
Every James Bond movie with Sean Connery
Scarface
Batman (1989)
Jurrasic Park (1)
Die Hard (1-3)
Back to the future

And plenty more, of course.

Of the more new realses, I enjoy high-paced action flicks with good storylines. But it's not always they're easy to come by. I loved Transformers and Iron Man. A lot of superhero movies are in my favorites, excluding of course Spiderman 3 - Peter Parker going emo and signing, while Mary Jane gets that much screentime? Puh-lease!

That's about it.

Oh, and I friggin' hate WALL-E. Come on, I get the idea. But the majority of the dialoge is 'Wall-e' and 'Eeeeee-va' for 80+ minutes. How's that supposed to stimulate anyone? Here you go, you've seen a flick about the environment, but we've annoyed the poop out of you. That doesn't make me feel inspired.

Re:OT: Movie talk

I also didn't enjoy WALL-E.

When you have kids, you quickly find the "save the earth" message is rammed down their throat in basically everything. I find this disturbing, because of the messages you could send to kids, environmentalism probably wouldn't make my top 50, but it's a constant favorite of many kids movies.

I should say in all fairness, many themes I also find important are in those films as well, so it's not straight environmentalism, but still.

Anyway, getting past that, I think it was the computer programmer in me that just could not deal with the misrepresentation of technology in the movie. I know I should let it got like I let go of talking fish in finding Nemo, but the ending of the movie really did not work for me at all where WALL-E comes back to life as if he's a person rather than just finding a different circuit board to plug into him.

Otherwise, I agree with you, the movie wasn't all that interesting in the middle, the near complete lack of any dialog made it boring. It's one of the only kids movies my kids have seen that they didn't want to go see again. I mean absolute crap of kids movies they usually want to see more than once, but this they didn't.

Indeed. When children doesn't want to return, something is terribly, terribly wrong.

But generally, I see people loving it. I just can't find the attraction in it. When I ask around, I get the same old argument about it being 'clever'.

Re:OT: Movie talk

Just saw Adventureland tonight. Was pretty so-so. Definitely not a real comedy though it has some funny moments. It's sort of one of those coming of age movies where you can care about the characters, but it really didn't go far enough to resolve anything for me.

You're left at the end with almost all of the same questions that are introduced during the movie. It wasn't bad, but the trailer does the movie a big disservice. Probably 75% of the funniest moments of the movie, and really only funny moments, are in the trailer. It gives the impression that the movie is both a comedy, and it steals away the levity you would have gotten from the funny moments had they not been in the trailer.

It wasn't terrible, the characters were good as was the acting for the most part. I just wish they had gone somewhere with it a little bit more and resolved some of the plotlines going on.
