4. Drive with Ryan Gosling. I didnt know he could do action hero, but he plays the character really well, its a good old fashioned Anti-hero revenge story.

I've been curious about this one because it seems liked they tried to do an "artsier" version of The Transporter. I've also heard Albert Brooks is pretty good it in as well.

Well, the only similarities these to movies share is the "cars" theme. Gosling plays a Stunt driver for the film industry who moonlights as a wheelman for robberies as opposed to a mover of goods. He befriends a woman and her son whos husband is in jail. When her husband gets out hes trying to make good on his life but is into some mob guys for protection money, So the mob guys set up a job for him to steal the money he owes them and Goslings character offers to help him out by driving for him, thats when the shit hits the fan.

Make no mistake, his character is most definitely a hard dude, he comes off as such a quiet gentile character until he has to start cracking skulls (and in one scene, literally to a sickening extent).

Sounds cool - I still feel like I'm going to walk away comparing it to the Transporter. Either way, thank you! You helped me decide on not buying this one unseen.

Were they bad? Is that why you're punishing them?

Forgot that I also watched Friends With Benefits with the wife Friday night. Meh, decent humorous chick flick/friends find love story but I certainly wouldn't have picked it up otherwise. Mila Kunis does show some skin, but not much in the naughty bits department.

watched 4 movies this weekend.

1, Haywire (in the theater) the movie about the female military contractor who gets betrayed. It was entertaining but they seriously could have shaved a good 30 minutes from that movie, many many slow scenes with no dialogue ruin the pacing of the film. i.e. theres a scene where shes walking somewhere, and it literally films her walking for like 5 minutes, its like get the **** on with it already.
You know why? Because this is another genius hollywood move of forcing a movie to test a non-actors market for film. Same reason that they don't show Gina Carano actually acting in the previews, cause she's not an actor. Hollywood Exec "Hey... i've got an idea, let's take that hot MMA chick and put her in a movie." Other Hollywood Exec "but she isn't an actor how can you make her the star of a hollywood film with no experience." Exec 1. "Profit?" Exec 2 "Good Point, Greenlight!"

I'd have no problem if she would have switched over and built her career. But they see her shelf life and went all in. The movie looks horrible. action action action silence action, words, silence words, action, turning point, action, lull, lull, boom. End.

When We Were Kings 8/10

Great observational film on the Ali/Foreman fight. Took nearly 23 years to finish due to legal red tape.

Trinity and Beyond 7/10

If you like atomic/H-bombs exploding, this is for you. Plus, it's narrated by William Shatner. Really interesting footage.

I love Star Wars too, but not Episodes 1-3. All of them came close to being good but everyone of them was ruined by something. Episode 1 was Jar Jar.

Since everyone is already into mocking my Canadian nature I feel confident in sharing that I saw a French-Canadian film today, Monsieur Lazhar. It's nominated for a foreign language Oscar this year and was really amazing. It's a bout an Algerian guy who takes over teaching a class at an elementary school after another teacher hangs herself in her classroom. He also has his own story, to do with his own family tragedy and his refugee status trial. The kid actors were fantastic. Sad, touching, funny, you know, that kind of shit. Not as depressing as you might think.

Red State. Just because I also want to watch it. And because the Westboro Baptist Church protested the movie, so it has to be good.

I usually don't fall asleep until 1:00AM so I have plenty of time for a 90-100 minute movie after the game.

Thought you might have had a brain fart....now I see

But it's a Canadian film. It can't possibly be good.

QFT - Charlie this is what I was getting at. I'll be waiting for Eps 4 and 5 to be in 3D and will more-than-likely check those out.

Red State was actually pretty lame and I love Kevin Smith.
