Alien 3 is average story telling at best.

You spend all that time saving Newt and Hicks just to lose them in the first 5 minutes of the 3rd film.

That was one of the few Fincher turds.
I'm not disagreeing, but he didn't have much to work with in way of a script.

I'm so tired of Hollywood just throwing a bunch of "stars" into a movie and think that it's going to be good. Savages anyone? Travolta and Paul Walker still get roles? Salma Hayak,,, come on.

I don't think that's their objective. Their objective is ticket sales.

Fincher got a lot of studio interference and he pretty much has disowned Alien 3. Partly it's Fox fault, why give a big franchise sequel to a first-time director and then got nervous about it and started messing about. He didn't even have a finished script when he started to shoot it. Considering all that extra crap it turned out pretty alright, IMO, especially visually it looks great and has that Fincher style already. I haven't seen it, but I hear the "Assembly Cut" that can be found on the Alien Quadrology boxset improves it somewhat.

I wouldnt consider Paul Walker a star, outside the fast and the furious franchise, I think the dude maybe had 2 leading roles in like 15 years.

Eh, I think Salma Hayak increasingly sees herself as a producer since Frida and the U.S. version of Ugly Betty for TV. She's not really acting anymore since she had the kid right?

Watched a few blue rays tonight

Alvin and the Chipmonks Chipwrecked - It pains me to see David Cross in this movie, but I guess what ever pays his bills.

Adventures of Tin Tin - This was actually fairly entertaining. Could have easily not been animated.

The Grey - Nature wins. Wolves are voracious. Life amounts to a pile of shit. Nice cheer you up, feel good, kind of movie.

He was in Joy Ride, which is all that should matter. Heh.

He is often shirtless onscreen no matter the film and you can cut a VVS1 diamond on his glorious chest, which is actually all that does matter. Heh.

I can't remember what podcast it was, I think Nerdist, but he talks about his time filming Chipwrecked and it's hilarious. He wasn't all too happy about it but yeah it paid the bills. He basically said that since he was in the previous 2 he was pretty much obligated to be in the 3rd.

**** it who cares, I just can't wait for Tobias Funke to his the silver screen.

I'll have to see that.

Finally saw Hot Fuzz. That was a very good film. Funny, and well shot. I loved the end.

8/10.

Watched Midnight in Paris, Ymo, i think it was you that commented on it, and I have to disagree, it was a waste of time. I guess I'm just not a Woody Allen guy, all his movies seem to be a long sienfeld episode, about nothing. Great premise for the movie, but I just thought it went no where, was predicatable, and honestly annoying at times.

I really thought Owen Wilson did a good job "being" Woody Allen without actually being Woody Allen. To each their own.. I enjoyed it. And being a fan of a lot of the famous people he ran into, it was just neat to see those characters brought to life.

Saw the Lorax this weekend. Cute movie, heavy handed with the environmental message, but it makes sense. Lots of music and bright colors - good for kids and stupid people like me.
