I watched 9.79 last evening on ESPN2 after the boring replay of KHL hockey.

I was really impressed by the film. It had amazing coverage, and it went into all of the runners and their histories, but really focused on Ben Johnson's doping and Carl Lewis. Well filmed and well presented.

8/10.

The part that I saw was excellent. Unfortunately I had to leave for a meeting, so I missed the rest of it. I will definitely look to DVR it and catch it another time.

If you haven't already, read the book... couldn't believe how good it was for the exact reason you mentioned...

Want to catch it, just haven't been able to get to it and it's gone from the cheap theaters... should I wait for Netflix or is it worth a purchase?

only reason I just went ahead and bought it was because I own Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, and had to own this as well, no matter how campy it was. But it turned out not to be campy and all and pretty damn good. If you dont want to buy, it will be out to rent on the 16th. I usually rent movies through Amazon or VUDU movies on my ps3. It is most definitely worth a rental.

I saw the Dictator yesterday. Very meh. Had a few laugh out loud moments but overall it just didn't do much for me.

I haven't seen JCVH just yet, but I keep meaning to get around it... there's something about cheesy vampire movies that's just fun. Thanks for the rec, I'll see if I can find it on the cheap and rent/buy from there.

This is somewhat random, but I just discovered that Louis CK wrote and directed Pootie Tang. Woah.

Well, it's not a movie that's mentioned often and definitely not a movie I would have thought to attribute to Louis CK.

I picked up "Monsters" on DVD at the local library this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised, especially after I saw on IMDB that it's budget was estimated at well less than $1 million dollars. Too bad the dumb, cheesy SyFy original movies airs with similar (or greater) budgets are never even close to this good in comparison.

Totally I was expecting it to be about the quality of a scifi original movie, but yeah surprisingly good as well as the special effects.

I started watching Monsters but fell asleep (not because of the movie) and never remembered to finish it, thanks for the reminder.

It was directed by someone who was very proficient in special effects.

I heard it cost 35,000 to make that film.

Kings Ransom 4/10: A documentary film you can avoid that talks about Wayne Gretzky

Confessions of a Superhero: 4/10: Interesting at first, but extremely slow

Grizzly Man 7/10: One of Herzog's better films. Worth seeing.

It was a good film, the only thing is, it was kind of honoring behavior no one should take. Wild animals are just that....no matter how much you think you understand them. The film should have been more critical of treadwell.

Definitely an underrated sci-fi flick. One that I should probably own...

I'd throw "A Sound of Thunder" in there, too -- very low budget, but I dug it (although that could be more because of my love of Ray Bradbury storeis).

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Saw Argo last night.

Easily the best movie all year; I was quite amazed that Ben Affleck didn't tank this one or try to hog the limelight.

I would highly, highly recommend this one.

I want to see this film.

Miami Connection.

Indie Game. Great film, excellent cinematography. The dude in the black shirt looks like if Jako and Ymono had a kid together.

8/10.

Saw Miami Connection on Attack of the Show a couple weeks ago... looks pretty interesting.

As for our love-child... he shall be called, Jakono.
