I'm into summer comedies more than other summer movies. Saw This is the End. Funny, lots of dick jokes. Completely absurd, and lots of those guys riffing on their personas, but some really genius parts. Saw The Heat. Also funny. Lots of vagina jokes and dick jokes. It was sort of like Beverly Hills Cop or Lethal Weapon, with lots of those kinds of ridiculous cop situations. I recommend both.

Unrelated: Burton's Batman > Nolan's Batman.

Michael Keaton is the effing best! Jack Nicholson is so entertaing, though of course Heath Ledger is fantastic in the role. Anyway, just caught Batman on TV and I feel like I'm enjoying it way more than I enjoyed the Nolan series. Maybe because that shit was taking itself way too seriously. He's just a super rich dude! 1%!

Slaughter House 5 directed by Guillermo del Toro and screenplay written by Charlie Kaufman. This could be awesome.

Has anyone seen the Superman movie? Its really the only summer blockbuster Im kind of interested in. Was one of my fav movie franchises as a younger kid. Not a comic book fan though. Just want to see how it held up as a new film. Thought there would be more talk about but seeing there isn't it makes me a little suspicious.

Im not much of a movie theatre goer so something special has to really get my ass in one. I'm more than capable than waiting years to see something. Not one of those who needs to see something right away when it hits a theatre. I suck. Superman might draw me to a theatre if its worth it via good reviews.

I rarely get out to see movies these days and when I do it's often with one or both of children. So, no, haven't seen superman. I did see the new Despicable Me 2. I like the first one a lot. This one was only so so.

If you aren't a comic book fan, I think you might really enjoy it. I enjoyed it as a movie based on characters I know somewhat well in the comics however, if you are looking for true-to-the-books you might not enjoy as much - there's definitely a departure from the standard story. It was definitely a different look at Supes and really tried to take a somewhat more "realistic" approach to the mythos. Parts of it almost come off more as a "first contact" kind of story. I will say, I was surprised at how much Russel Crowe was actually in the movie and how little Kevin Costner was. One of my big gripes is collateral damage - I love a good superhero movie, but really get annoyed when there's so much destruction and loss of innocent life that everyone just kind of looks past. I'll give Iron Man 3 some credit there because it at least recognized that everything that happened in the Avengers was huge.

I actually saw this and Monsters University at the drive-in a few weeks ago. Not a bad night at the movies, I enjoyed both quite a bit.

I liked the new superman and am glad they painted him in a different image than the comics. That was always the most unappealing aspect of super man to me, such unfailing unflawed goody two-shoes its goddamn sickening. NOBODY no matter how good, is without some kink. So I am glad they departed from his typical mold.

That's also one of the big focal points of the character. He's not supposed to be someone we can relate to, he's supposed to be able to find a win-win scenario in which "normal" human beings would not be able to. Thus, his being Superman. They fucked that idea up pretty badly in the movie. Again, Nolan trying to find a realistic way of making superheros "work". Don't know why he stresses that. Also, Superman is not supposed to be dark. Like, whatsoever. It's really too bad, because there exists now more than ever the opportunity to make really good superhero movies.

Well if they didnt change him I can assure you I am one movie ticket they wouldnt have sold. You have to understand, comic movies can't survive on geek sales alone, and supermans natural state is a goody 2 shoes dumbass no normal human being can relate to. Thats why the first reboot blew ass and failed. I am sorry a traditional superman movie just wont work now, people want dark, people want gritty. I mean by all means if you want the movie company to just throw their money down the drain to "stay true to the character" fine, but this is a business not a fanservice.

I mean this is why the recent DC movies failed outside dark night and the new superman. Marvel based alot of their characters on real life and real world issues. People can relate to those characters. Which is why only a couple of the plethora of Marvel movies didnt do well(Daredevil blew ass). That isn't so much the case with DC characters.

I'm in as long as del Toro is required to at least give something like dailies to the studio. An unchecked del Toro can be VERY hard to watch.

This is also a...bold move to take such novel to movie. I am sure I am not the only one who really enjoys this book and was one of my "I am a real boy" books I read that "moved" be into becoming an adult literary fan.

I wish them great luck and if they blow it, well, "So it goes".
