That's also one of the big focal points of the character. He's not supposed to be someone we can relate to, he's supposed to be able to find a win-win scenario in which "normal" human beings would not be able to. Thus, his being Superman. They fucked that idea up pretty badly in the movie. Again, Nolan trying to find a realistic way of making superheros "work". Don't know why he stresses that. Also, Superman is not supposed to be dark. Like, whatsoever. It's really too bad, because there exists now more than ever the opportunity to make really good superhero movies.

Well if they didnt change him I can assure you I am one movie ticket they wouldnt have sold. You have to understand, comic movies can't survive on geek sales alone, and supermans natural state is a goody 2 shoes dumbass no normal human being can relate to. Thats why the first reboot blew ass and failed. I am sorry a traditional superman movie just wont work now, people want dark, people want gritty. I mean by all means if you want the movie company to just throw their money down the drain to "stay true to the character" fine, but this is a business not a fanservice.

I mean this is why the recent DC movies failed outside dark night and the new superman. Marvel based alot of their characters on real life and real world issues. People can relate to those characters. Which is why only a couple of the plethora of Marvel movies didnt do well(Daredevil blew ass). That isn't so much the case with DC characters.
