Re: Can the Hawks sign Niemi at $4m without losing a core pi
Not to cut the other guys short but the new 4th line could very well be better than the old.

Burish missed a good portion of the season. Eager missed the first part with a concussion and was NOT very physical the rest of the year, and Frazer, though I love him, just didn't bring much. Dowell is much more physical than Frazer.
The new alleged 4th line will be like playing short handed every shift.

Do those kills count in the stats?

Really? Those guys will be taking penalties every other time on the ice?

You'll either eat a shit load of crow, or pat yourself on the back. 50-50 chance.

I'll wait till it unfolds to see which players will rise to the task. Knowing they are playing with Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Keith, Sharp and Hossa, I'll take the positive route.

Speaking of hawk players... blahblah blah, any news on Hendry? Don't we still need to resign him? Thought I saw on capgeek or whatever that he's a UFA?
Can someone break down the financial situation for the team as it is this very second. What the cap is, what they are under, who they have signed who they don't, just the facts ma'am? I bet I just get a link to nhlnumbers.com or something, but I always find them to be impersonal. haha
Definitely go to CapGeek. They just launched an improved cap calculator that is super easy to use and fun. I just built a team that should win the Cup and sweep the Wings in the process, and its 3.8 mill under the Cap!

This...

GM Stan Bowman said he told Patrick Sharp the winger won't be traded this off-season.

+

GM Stan Bowman said he's still negotiating with agent for goaltender Antti Niemi.

+

GM Stan Bowman on how team will fit both Antti Niemi and Patrick Sharp: "As of right now we don't have a solution."

= F you Zito. Shit or get off the pot.

Absolutely. I don't know if he'd make this team if his cap hit was 500k. From every account I've heard, he really disappointed at prospect camp and got a nice long talkin' to by Stan after the final scrimmage.

Niemi or not, they can't afford Beach. There is not a chance he makes the team this year, similar to the way Skille was treated.
