It has been reported that they have already accepted the terms of the arbitrator's decision and signed him. Doug Wilson won't be able to 'swoop' in and get him as a UFA. And there is no way in hell that Scooter trades him to the Sharks after what Wilson did to the Hawks on the Hammer offer sheet. If he does, Rocky needs to kick him square in the nuts and relieve him of his duties......pronto![/quote]

Uhmm. Does Rocky swing with his left or right foot?

BUT there was going to be a bidding war for this players services. This can't be correct. I was told by many of you we would get something of value. This must be a bogus report.

What happened to the bidding war? We were going to get something of value in return according to most of you last night. I was hopeful for a 3rd to 5th round pick and was told I was crazy. I must have been nuts to think we could have received a draft pick in return.

I guess Niemi will find out how much he is worth on the open market now.

He'll end up in San Jose. Doug Wilson played Scooter like a fiddle. Even Charlie Daniels would have been proud. And on that note I'm gone until opening night. Enjoy the rest of your summer everyone.

Yeah...Wilson "played him like a fiddle"....lol

Take a look at that stellar Dgroup he's assembled there -

DEFENSEMEN

Dan Boyle ($6.666m) / Marc-Edouard Vlasic ($3.100m)

Douglas Murray ($2.500m) / Niclas Wallin ($2.500m)

Kent Huskins ($1.700m) / Jason Demers ($0.543m)

Jay Leach ($0.500m)

That's what Niemi will be playing behind if he goes there....lol. Charlie Daniels can tap dance his ass to fact that SJ was 22nd in shots allowed last season - allowing 31.4 shots a game, and losing Nabokov who'd play 70gms a year and boasted a .922%/2.42gaa....with Niemi's save percentage, their GAA would jump up by .5 goals a game - an who knows how well he'll handle playing more than 39 games (we all saw how Huet handled that), the travel from SJ to all over the country...

Well..get your SJ jersey's now...lol

Do me a favor, take a look at SJ's Dgroup, and their bottom 5 forwards, (because they don't have 6 signed yet)

Dougie will be out of a job soon....for some of these moves he made. They have zero depth and would be a better team if he didnt trade for Heatley - they lost Erhoff and Michalek and a 2nd rnd pick because of that....as well as trading a 2nd round pick for Wallin last year...letting Vezina candidate go, not replacing Blake or Maholtra....

Fiddle away Willie

Can someone answer this? I'm listening to the Score last night and a caller asked if Niemi could resign with the Hawks for say $1M. The host Lawrence Holmes said no and that if the Hawks want to sign Niemi they must sign him to the $2.7M deal that was awarded in arbitration? Is that correct?? I remember reading here in several posts that the Hawks could sign him to whatever amount they liked now that they have walked away from the deal. Which is correct? thx!

Niemi is UFA, so Hawks can sign him for whatever. They walked away from the arbitration award and is therefor void.

The way I understand it is, if anyone tries to sign him for under what the arbitrator awarded, the Hawks have the opportunity to match it, Not sign him to anything they want to.

Lawrence Holmes is an idiot, I have to switch The Score off after Boers and Bernstein... and even they are hard to listen too. Just stick to the NBA Holmes... oh wait, you suck at that too.

This was possible in the old CBA. Not so in the new one.

670 The Score - Most unlistenable radio in Chicago.

Bernstein and his "Did you threaten me; I'm calling my daddy lawyer" is the worst.

Send him back to Duke.

I'd rather listen to 90 year old's queefs than the Score.
