Bowman planned to meet with his staff Sunday to come to a conclusion that could have a large impact on the Hawks' defense of their first championship in 49 years.

"There are always options in every decision," Bowman said Sunday during a panel discussion at the Blackhawks Convention. "You have to weigh what it would take, what it would do to your team flexibility-wise if you decide to keep him (or) if maybe you have to move somebody else along. There's no one right way to do it."

I WON'T take that bet. :D Caps are my second guess.

By the way, Hendry was at the convention, but, as of right now, he's an UFA? Wtf? Sign him already.

they are reporting Turco has been signed for over a mil less than Niemi.

So long Niemi.

And a side note what a fucking slam to the Flyers!

I'm with whoever said it earlier, if he was staying it would have been a big splash news article already. Hello Turco. now... for your backup.

I'm also very interested in seeing what we can get in return for Niemi, and the real question is, will it be useful enough to play, ANNNNNDDD not eat the cap room we just freed?

That's why Hendry is the ultimate team trooper. Very serviceable 6/7 Dman who knows his role and can play a little also. Don't make Nana post that Hendry goal link vs Vancouver again.

They won't bring any salary back that won't be in Rockford.

Get for Niemi? We'll be lucky to get a 3rd to 5th rounder with 29 teams knowing we've screwed the pooch with the cap situation. Besides you can't take anything of value back in return. You don't have a room is the reason why we're moving him.

Yepper, Adios Niemi-os.

Good move by the Hawks both for cap reasons, and also for sending a message to players who want to play hard ball Zito style.

Don't know why so many Finnish players hire this guy.

There's a good message to send to prospective free agents in years to come........

again how about this.

The Flyers offered him well over 2 million but Turco decided to play for the Hawks.

Just like Skille, those are the moves that PROVE a player wants to win, instead of the pay day.

That I like!!

I think we can get fair return for him. Multiple teams are reportedly interested.

It only takes more than one team wanting Nimei in order to negate any devaluation because we are up against the wall with him. It's the same reason we seemingly have gotten more than we thought we would for the other players.

Don't make me do it! That is great for the fans that Hendry showed up and invested the time despite contract uncertainty. I'm sure he had some fun as well and it's a nice reminder to mgmt. that he's a team guy/role player.

If Niemi is gone, I will really miss watching him play. He was very exciting and I loved his swagger & ability to shake off a bad goal. That being said, having another 1996 Michigan Hockey Champion on the team could bode well for a repeat...
