LOL. I completely forgot about Soundgarden. Speaking of heroin sound, I always liked STP as well. I didn't mind Pearl Jam, but there's something about Eddie Vedder that makes me want to stand in a bucket of water and punch my tv screen while sticking my fingers in an electrical socket.

For me it was Vedder's being outspoken on his political & social views. That's always an annoyance whether I agree or disagree with it. Fuckin sing your songs and be done with it.

At that age, I listened to Nirvana with regular LPs/CDs/cassettes. But now, I rarely listen to any bands that broke a top 40 chart. Hipster, I know, but I'd go crazy listening to the same popular bands over and over again. I like a lot of music, and there is a lot of shitty music, so when good bands are in play, I just leave them be. I also love Alice, and they are HoF worthy in my book. Saw them live as well, with Staley. But AiC is a very apples/oranges comparison as far as fame and music style. Korn and Nirvana are very similar, fame-wise and going against the industry becoming super cult despite having no promotional support(early on, at least). And now, a lot of people think Korn is over-rated. But IMO, the same thing, they aren't played on the radio or brought up a whole lot.

They're just bands that aren't played in neutral areas, and you only pop those albums in among like-minded followers. Shit, I wish people who listened to some music had that kind of respect. Hell, I'd rather hear Bush/Dave Mathews(not a big fan of either) at the store than another boy band/Hootie and the Blowfish/Katy Perry(power of being a designer band with the promotional support).

The RR HOF is a JOKE.

Such stellar artists as The Beastie Boys and Alice Cooper are inducted...while Alan Parsons and the Moody Blues are omitted.

Are you kidding me?.

Progressive artists get screwed all the time: Jethro Tull, Yes, Deep Purple, ELO, STYX, etc.

Groups like Rush & Genesis just got in after years of fan pressure.

Pink Floyd is the only one that I can think of that didn't have to wait forever. I think it was 3 or 4 years after they were elilgible... which even that is ridiculous considering Dark Side of the Moon was on the charts for over 14 years straight.

As you said, the RR HOF is a joke.

So Nirvana was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They only had 3 albums but I still think they are deserving and should have been inducted years ago. One of the most influential bands of the '90s and still relevant all these years later. They invented a genre of rock music that they personally took from the undergrounds of Washington to the mainstream. It's a shame that Kurt Cobain died so young... could have been the next John Lennon.

they earned it

What was considered progressive upon release is now classic rock.

But Bobby Blue I don't get, great artist...but no BB King or Buddy Guy?. Those 2 influenced many, many other artists.

Bobby Blue Bland and BB King definitely belong in the RR HOF IMO

Most of the early R&R songs were nothing but blues patterns with a rock beat added to it..All of Chuck Berry's songs were blues patterns...Most of the R&R guys were influenced by blues men as you pointed out

But the only HOF Buddy Guy belongs in is the "Loud Hall of Fame"..Ever hear that guy live?..Bust your eardrums every time..I've seen him 3 times, and every time he was too loud.. And then offered up the same old excuse that his throat is sore, but he will do his best etc etc etc..I've soured on him over the years.
