Is Yanina returning? If so please tell her to go back to being blonde - I liked her that way better. She's one of my favs.

What about Ritsa? She had the baby and was hoping she'd return.

And what about Katie the blond lawyer? Why did she leave?

The vets were the best.
As i have been told by the crew, that things are going to change. All but a few of the rookies and one vet from last year will be on the crew this year.

Yes, they should not only have been in the parade, but they should also at least gotten a chance to celebrate this win like anyone else in the organ"I"zation. This crew were paid to work and been on call for community activities to show support for the team.

The last few years the crew have had a booth at the Convention. This year, the team sold their booth and didn't have much for them to do. The cup was there and they were not allowed to see it.

In the past, the crew were given game tickets for the nights they worked. Of course, that is no longer a perk.

These girls are talented and do more for the public relations by spending time with the fans in the concourse and stands. Taking pics with the young kids and handing out their autographs is just part of what they do.

Now, the Hawks Brass...want nothing to do with them.

This stuff started during the finals when the Organ"I"zation didn't want any of the vets working the finals.
This is right in line with all the other stuff the wonderful front office has seen fit to change.

Yanina was the first to go. She didn't finish the season.

Haven't heard from Ritsa or Katie, so don't know what they are up to.

Couldn't disagree with you more about Yanina. Much prefer her as a brunette, actually. Speaking of Yanina, I do agree she's among the hottest in the crew, which is why the team pimps her out more than just about anyone on the squad it seems, but has she had any plastic surgery? She looks a little plastic to me. I can't pinpoint it but there is something artificial about her. I could be totally wrong about her in that regard, however.

My favorites last year were Molly and Ashley G (in addition to Yanina). For Molly, its her "girl next door" look, and for Ashley, its something intangible that I can't pinpoint. I just dig her.

Ok since Jako didn't go there I will....

Colleen, Yanina and Ashly Lobo were "asked" to retire. Really they were told if they did try out they would not be chosen either way. So why show up.

Of those that did go to try outs.. Paige, Claire, Molly and Leslie were cut.

5 girls are back, along with Talia who I guess is the "Captain", and there are 9 new girls.

Back are Talia, Ashley G, Brittney, Laura, Becky and Kelly B.

Do you know what the criteria was in choosing who was asked to stay and who was asked to go? Colleen was super cool to all fans, and while her look was polarizing, I don't know anyone who didn't like her when they had a discussion with her.

Yanina was largely considered the hottest girl on the squad, so I don't know why they would ask her to leave. Plus, Yanina was on the set for the hockey scene for "the Dilemma" so why would they ask her to be in the Vaughn movie if she had fallen out of favor with management? I assume management had to approve who the movie picked to be Ice Crew girls in the filming of that scene, no?

It was Yanina, Ashley L., Jenna, and someone else in the movie.

You have to ask Wynne when you see her. I suggest everyone who has an issue with what they've heard, voice them.

To be honest I was never a huge fan of the Ice Crew. I was always there to see the hockey game. BUT, I have/had become friends with Ritsa, Colleen and Jen over the years. All very cool women in their own right. Ritsa and Jen had children and Colleen was just screwed.

Why? Got me. I never liked the leader of the bunch but again was always told Mcdonough did not think "highly" of them at all. Here say of course but it is what it is.

As for the Vaughn movie I was asked to be in it and you know how management loves me. That's should speak for itself.

Wow! Interesting to learn all of this. A couple thoughts come to mind.

1) If McD didn't like some of the ice crew I'm wondering why and what those vets did to tick him off. If he hated the whole crew you'd think he'd just dissolve it.

2) I am wondering if the vets and Winnie had a huge falling out.

3) Another thought - and this is pure speculation - I am wondering if the girls that were told 'don't even try out' broke some cardinal rule (i.e. dating players). Someone mentioned Yanina was thrown off the crew and didn't even finish the season so something happened. Maybe someday we'll find out the truth.

I will really miss Colleen - she held my young sons for photos last year and was so sweet to us. I will not miss Ashley Lobo or Paige though. Both were beautiful but were rude when I tried to say hi and speak briefly with them. I might've caught them on a bad day but I think they thought I was hitting on them (I'm sure they get that alot) and just looked the other way with a terse reply. Colleen on the other hand was standing nearby and started chatting and took photos. She understood that the fans do want to talk to the Crew and it's not just a bunch of drunk guys trying to pick up a girl at the bar. Classy lady - I will truly miss her.

I'm sure the girls are wonderful people, but why would a professional major league sports organization put any emphasis on the ice crews or cheerleaders?

When I started going to games in the 2006-2007 season, I was surprised by their presence. I don't recall seeing an Ice Crew at the games I went to in the 80s and early 90s.

If the organization wants further diversion and entertainment during intermissions, I would understand having some skilled figure skaters doing routines, but having the girls in tights shovel ice while waving at fans seems below a pro league.

I dunno bout your first questions, but the answer to number 3 is a no. There may have been some fraternizing, however I know that at least a few would never date the players. It truly cut some of the Ice Crew to be told don't bother showing up. They worked very hard, for little and sometimes no money, and I know a few of them will miss the interactions with the fans.

It was done for marketing purposes. They started the ice crew around the year 2000. The first year was pretty awful. The Hawks had Captain Morgan as a main promoter so some guy dressed up as Captain Morgan in the full regala would do a figure skating routine with the ice crew during one of the intermissions. They would all form a line, twirl around, etc. And then I remember they got booed mercilessly. The routine was full of flaws, the girls not in sync with kicks and movements, and it showed. That didn't last long. From then on they went back to just shoveling ice and looking good which is fine by me.

I don't think they started in 2000. They had the drummers then.

The site needs a hit list for all the people McDonough "allegedly" pushes out of the organization. Photos for Tallon, ex-players like Havlat, the since departed ice crew members, etc...

Sounds like there was a huge falling out between upper management and the ice crew just as the team was on it's way to winning the Cup. Members departing, no invite to participate in the parade, and now the mass purging of long time members.

I have to say it seemed as though the ice crew was less visible prior to games last season along the concourse when compared to previous seasons. Then again, the concourses seemed more crowded.

I'll ask him. I did not hear that, then again I didn't paint the ice this year due to being in Montana.
Someone told me you weren't asked back to paint the ice because you went outside the lines.
