Someone told me you weren't asked back to paint the ice because you went outside the lines.[/quote]

You aren't kidding. 1400 miles out side the lines!

Some people just have issues with cheerleaders. For example, look at the stupid Bears. I grew up on the Honey Bears, but i think they have been gone for at least 25 years. Why?!?! There is no rational justification for this. If you watch a football game and a team has cheerleaders, the broadcast is guaranteed to show the cheerleaders a few times. for obvious reasons. And the commercials for sports broadcasts are loaded with hot chicks, often in bikinis. Once again for obvious reasons.

Actually a large part of marketing features attractive women, starting with women's magazines themselves. So why would an organization that finally understands marketing want to **** this up and lose a cheap marketing tool and piss off a lot of fans in the process? I don't get it.

Or maybe there was some internal drama or catty/political bullshit that had to be addressed by departures? That wouldn't surprise me.

So wake up McD, the Ice Crew is now part of the Blackhawks "brand" and **** with it at your own risk. I hadn't noticed that the Crew was not at the parade, but i think they should have. Maybe the front office just looks at them as eye candy (as do many fans) and they didnt' want them to distract from the focus of the team celebrating the Cup. I could see a situation where some of the Ice Crew gets much louder cheers than some of the players (Huet of course, 4th liners, etc.)

Women easy on the eyes play a huge role in marketing all kinds of products, and i can't imagine the Hawks not knowing this and fucking this up. But this is a topic where people do stupid things that have no rational explanation.

With the info I have, the hassle isn't really from the front office. It is Wynne herself, and her "business", and a bad apple or 2 inside the crew itself.

Wynne is such a prize. I can not believe that.

If the organization wanted them to be part of the parade, they would have been. It's just that simple. What "he" wants, "HE" gets.

Virginia McCaskey made the call on this one - she wanted them gone. I went to school with the son of someone in the organization and I remember he told us it was Virginia behind the move. The old lady thought the scantily clad cheerleaders were inappropriate and not needed. Remember the "Save the Honeybears" campaign where fans and cheerleaders tried to convince ownership to keep them around? That's going back aways.

Maybe that's the problem. Every year she has to change the scenery due to jealousy?

Is this company really necessary?

I love that their entire resume of experience for her and her choreographer is the 4-5 years they danced for the bulls, and it blossomed from there.

I find the lack of former and/or current Ice Crew girls from the "Results" section to be ironic.

All I can say is if everyone is SO upset over the Crew you need to voice yourselves to management and front office staff. The veteran girls have tried speaking up but it falls on deaf ears because Wynne will not grow a backbone and speak up for them and help them get what they deserve.

The veteran girls who have been on the Crew for the last 3-5 years are the ones that have been especially hurt by the actions that took place in the playoffs all the way through now.

During the finals the crotchty old Zamboni guy got to pick which girls would get to skate on the Ice leaving Colleen and Yaninna (very seasoned vets) out in the cold. This is when Yaninna's departure happened. Instead Zamboni Man chose rookies instead.

We all know how they were not chosen for the parade as it even made local TV news.

Then days before tryouts over 3/4 of the Crew were asked not to return and "retire" - rather a nice way of being forced out and at the hand of one of their fellow teammates. Only 3 girls from last year are returning with 2 of those 3 being rookies. There is also a former Ice Crew girl (Heather) who is returning after she failed auditions 2 years in a row, was then on crew for a year, failed last year and is now back on the crew?!?!?! Furthermore what is interesting is one of the people that gets to choose the Crew is Steve Dahl's son since he is an employee of the Blackhawks. So take that for what it's worth.

And as a final stab in the back to the girls...if they want to keep their 09-10 uniform it is a cost of $300 to them. This isn't fair because the costumes have already been bought and paid for (and tailored to each girl) by their sponsor Bud Light. So who is getting this $300? Wynne? Blackhawks? Who knows...but if they don't return the uniforms their last paycheck is with held and the amount deducted. This is really sad for girls like Yaninna, Colleen and Jenna who want it as a piece of memorbila from a wonderful time in their lives.

Bottom line is these are Ambassadors for the team and they help with fan interaction and the overall experience of a Chicago Blackhawks game. They are getting the short end of the stick and they don't deserve it. If you don't like it - help speak up for them.

***and for those of you who know who I am - you didn't hear any of this from me***

Well I will say that under this regime the Management has listened. Every time something has been brought to the media. Whether they wanted it out or not. So voice your opinions. I hear you can just email John Directly.

Personally before a few were friends they didn't mean much as I was there for hockey. Since that time I have gotten to know a few of them and they are good people and the fans seem to love them, for what ever reason.

Shame the one's there the longest are treated the most like shit. Sounds familiar with this Organization though.

You forget too that above all they are fans as well, and they shouldn't be treated like that as staff, fans, or people in general.

I don't remember seeing any of this printed. Obviously it wasn't published they were forcing out veteran members for absolutely no reason other than if they showed up to try out, they wouldn't be chosen anyway.

I did how ever see media news today about the Coaches contract extension. And the extensions of several others last week. This organization has more VP's than most fortune 500 Companies.

Why would a Zamboni driver have the decision on which crew members were on the ice? Doesn't sound legit. Yeah I know he's an 'ice guy' but it's not like the girls are out there to maintain the ice anyhow. You can't tell me that a shovel here and a shovel there is any different from one girl to the next.

Also I read 2 years ago on the Hawks site on the info page for crew tryouts that the girls receive $50 per game. Take out taxes and they clear about $38. Plus they have to come in early. Personally I never understood why anyone would want that job as it's basically a volunteer position and their time would be better spent in a job that makes real money. Of course, they may see this as a way to get exposure for modeling and other gigs - not sure if that has panned out for any of them. Lobo had a couple commercials so I guess that's one example.

Really? It's his ice. Not saying it was him either as I have no clue. Personally I believe it was much higher up than the Zamboni Driver.

It was said a few times that the actual NHL players had a problem with it as a whole. Which is why starting last year you had the real Ice Crew doing both ends in front of the goal and through the circles between TV Time Outs.

Most of them have jobs that make them real money Fluff. And they most certainly could put it on a resume for modeling or numerous things. Hell look at the benevolent leaders web site. She obviously used it.

The zamboni driver, from everything I have heard, had the call. I am with RK, it may have come from higher up, but my sources say otherwise.

A few of the girls did it as a fun thing to do. Watch the game and get a little beer money? Who wouldn't want to do that? One of the girls was in school to become a lawyer and victims advocate.

Yeah, they got paid shittily, but part of their compensation was 2 tickets to the game they worked. It was a great way for some of the girls to get marketing experience, as well as get their foot in the door for some modeling work and some commercials. Hell, Ashley Lobo is in a Miller Lite commercial.

I never realized the Zamboni guy had any kind of power - I always just saw him as some dude driving the truck around the ice and that's it. It sounds like maybe he is the equivalent of the Wrigley grounds crew guy and actually is responsible for the ice surface as a whole? Interesting - I learned something new I guess.

Ok, first off, I spoke with a couple of the girls at U.S. Cellular Field for Blackhawks Night, and they said 6 or 7 were back. So I don't know where your getting your information but your wrong. In terms of everything else....I totally agree its really strange they were left out of the parade, that makes 0 sense to me and basically is pathetic on the Hawks part.

I dont want to pick on Beastkeeper, cause by the sound of it, you clearly have some sort of personal connection to the Crew, as your rant seems genuine.

But the fact that people are so up in arms about the ice crew changing girls is just comical from my point of view. Who cares!?!?!?! The Hawks won the Stanley Cup! HAHAHAHAHAHA. The Hawks are on the brink of Training Camp, gearing to defend the CUP, and i come to these boards and this is pretty much the most popular thread?

I just find it funny, for better or for worse.

Let me know when you guys are going to start talking about hockey again, and not about the on-ice talent who shovel the goddamn ice.
