Of the 9 named HC candidates is there anyone you'd hate?

Can anyone please explain why Frazier other than he's a former Bear?

He really hasn't done much since he was canned in Minny, where he had a strong roster.

You can point as DC in Buf, but they weren't terrible when he arrived. Seems like a great DC that shouldn't be handed the reigns again

Leftwich also coached them to a top 3 offense in 2019 with Jameis at the helm. If he wasn't throwing picks like Bad Rex all season they could have really made some noise in the playoffs.
And Bruce Arians was the head coach. It was the same situation as Nagy with Andy Reid we need to try and avoid going forward

Leftwich also didn't "take over" the offense until 2020 the year Brady got there.

That's why if there are any of these first time OC's we need to take a shot on its Brian Daboll. He's the offensive mastermind there - there's no Bruce Arians or Andy Reid watching over his shoulder making sure everything goes okay. We know for sure he developed Josh Allen and he's called every play on an elite offense there for a few years.

It shouldn't disqualify them, but yeah after Nagy, it'd be a tough pill to swallow. Hackett would suck. Leftwich, I think has some potential because he did have some success with Jameis. But again, how much influence does Arians have? He'd be a high risk/high reward guy and I don't think the Bears should go that route after the Nagy disaster.
It shouldn't but it scares me away. Maybe i'd be more willing to take a shot on guys like that if there wasn't such a long history of suckage here. But definitely talk to those guys and pick their brains.

I wouldn't like it if they were hired but id still give them a chance. What else can we do?

Frazier getting a lot of hate for leading BUF to the #1 defense without Tre'Davious White and 0 pro-bowlers. He's by far done a better job than anyone on that list in the past few years, hope they bring him home. Haters: get fucked.

I want a leader as a HC, not a playcaller. Frazier is that. As long as he can bring in the right coordinators, he should be on the short list..,

This is wrong. He called plays in 2019.

Yeah, it's actualy OK to just do what works and not try to figure out what play can make you look like a genius. It goes back to when Mike Martz coached. He realy WAS a guru, but in St. Louis a s HC and again in Chicago as OC, he could never just do the simple thing when it was the right thing to do. It was all about looking like a wizard.

Sometimes the play call is straightforward.

Scoring is good. :)
I like big plays. Big plays are nice. We need more of those

And of course McCaskeys can't ask about X's and O's because they don't know football worth shit. Which is why it should terrify everyone that they are holding interviews for coaches without a GM.

George: So Doug, tell me about what your typical day is as a coach?

I think most want that, what tells you that Frazier is that person?

Good catch - you're right. The article I found had some confusing wording made it sound like Arians didn't until 2020 because he was pissed he wasn't getting HC interviews

Definitely way more interested now that he had successful season calling plays without TB12
He got his first play calling experience in 2018 with the Cardinals so that's why I don't really consider him a Nagy situation. He's got some experience under his belt. (not a ton.... but more than Nagy had for sure)

Great question.

I find it hard to believe if he had not played for the Bears he would be a candidate at this point, given his previous HC record and his age.

Is it the Bears doing good PR by showing interest in a former player? The team President insulted a former player in his press conference, so I won't give them credit for knowing good PR.

Hiring a man because he played for you is senseless. It makes no difference where the candidates played or grew up. That adds nothing.

I just looked up the Kyle Orton thing. What a nitpick. His QB rating is .3 better than his second year in DEN. While yes, its his best, its completely negligible. It was Kyle Orton playing like Kyle Orton, league average at the very best, as he has done a couple times before.

Frazier would be the least exciting hire I can think of. Blank stares, bad offense, run da bawl, George feeling warm and cozy. Frazier is like Lovie on quaaludes. This would be the most Bears hire and I'm almost expecting this is what we will get.
