Leverage for Campoli's agent?

Blues re-sign Roman Polak for 5 years at a cap hit of 2.75 million per.

Both are/were arbitration eligible this off season. Campoli is age 26, Polak 25.

Last 3 seasons...

Campoli 220 games, 19 goals, 50 assists, -19, 107 PIMS.

Polak 202 games, 8 goals, 40 assists, -12, 137 PIMS.

Asshole, you make me want to delete that post for fear his agent sees it.

Bowman has several restricted free agents, notably Chris Campoli, Michael Frolik, Viktor Stalberg and Troy Brouwer, to re-sign. And he said no deals are imminent.

“[Corey] Crawford was the big guy,” Bowman said. “These other guys we’re certainly going to get to in time. … We’re working through that. We’ve got to prepare for the draft. So we’re focusing on that and looking for a replacement [for Cheveldayoff], while concurrently trying to negotiate. Those things take time.”

Bowman did say he’s OK going into the season with Crawford and rookie Alexander Salak, who signed a two-year deal last month, as his goaltending tandem.

“We’re comfortable,” Bowman said. “Alexander deserves a chance in camp to show us what he can do. He had a great season last year and really two good years in a row.”

Bowman expects trade talks to heat up after the Stanley Cup finals. He also reiterated his desire for changes.

“It depends on trades ... and how that’s going to dictate [things],” he
said. “We want to make changes. Whether they come through free agency or a trade, I’m not sure on that yet.”

Depends. Campoli is coming off knee surgery. That will play a part no doubt.

Campoli coming off knee surgery, Brouwer coming off shoulder surgery... We have all the leverage with those two. Very few teams are going to want to invest much in them.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Ya know...I read from John Jaekel Jingle Heimer Schmidtt (and yes, I'm taking this with a bushel of salt) that there's some intrest in resigning Madden.

The only way I'd do this is if it was sub-1M and he was relegated to 3rd/4th line duties unless his play improved. Last I checked his play tanked after the limo incident. Improvement over Dowell/Johnson, but that's about it.

34 yrs old, injury prone, and IMHO way past his prime....pretty sad at 34...... no thanks.

If you could get him at a discount you wouldn't take him as a role like Madden a couple seasons ago and centering the 3rd line? He offers a veteran/mentor presence to the younger players as well.

The reason the Rangers are buying him out is to get his contract off the books... obviously he is going to sign for less somewhere he has a chance to win.

Not too sure about "injury prone" except last season.

Since 1998, games played per season:

79

82

71

82

80

76

81

77

82

81

77

24

On this Hawks team he'd be around 20-25 goals and 20-25 assists... not bad for a 3rd liner?

been concussed 3 times, numerous leg/groin injuries and always his hands/fingers. I understand why you think he MIGHT be a good addition, I just think he is done. I'd like for him to prove me wrong, because he was the classic "All American Kid" just dont think he has the drive in him anymore. maybe a change of venue will do it for him, I doubt it.

I agree with you on this one....

I thought that Simon Gagne would have a comeback with the Lightning. It never happened. With that in mind, I'd pass on Drury. I don't care what anyone says about how good he is. The bad just outweighs the good. The fact he's injury-prone bothers me a lot.

If he signs here and proves us wrong, then I'll be happy. But until that happens, I would not want him here.

According to that list of missed games, last year was the only real "bad" one since 1998 - I don't think he'd cost much since he's already getting paid by the NYR...I'd take him depending on his asking price...much rather him than Madden.

I mean...we have a center that has back, concussion and ankle injuries..whose carrer games played is -

39 - broken foot

81

39 - back surgery

61 - concussion

Thats worse than Drury's missed games. Other than his age...if his asking price was pretty reasonable...I'd take him in the indian head

From the "would you trade files"....

Campbell - 7.14mil hit (5yrs - 35.7mil left)

RFA rights to Brouwer

to TOR for -

Komisarek - 4.5mil hit (3yrs - 12.5mil left)

Kessel - 5.4mil hit (3yrs - 16.5mil left)

Pick or Prospect

Why TOR might do this - Komisarek is expendable due to having to resign Schenn for the same role, as well as having Phaneuf. Having let Kaberle go, they could use Campbell's speed/offense from the blueline. Brouwer is a Burke type player as well.

Why CHI might do this - Moving Campbell's 35.7mil for 29mil...saves 6.7mil off the books. They still have 1 more year to "eat" of Huet's contract of 5.25mil. Even though Cristo's contract is buried...it's still 5mil to pay. Komisarek - YES is overpaid, but maybe a change of scenery can help. He does have size, hits, blocks shots...with a bit of a nasty streak. Just as a change helped Stuart in DET...this could help him?

There has been talk of another "buyout" relief when the CBA expires at the end of next year, meaining when they buy someone out, it won't count against the cap, as they did after the last lockout. Buying Komisarek out then, if needed, would be less of a finacial hit than Soupy's.

Hawks then resign Campoli and Frolik.....bring back Madden...and still have around 1.2mil to sign.....Drury? Kruger can start in Rockford

Patrick Sharp ($3.900m) / Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Marian Hossa ($5.275m)

Phil Kessel ($5.400m) / DRURY? / Patrick Kane ($6.300m)

Michael Frolik ($2.000m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / Bryan Bickell ($0.541m)

Ben Smith ($0.812m) / John Madden ($0.750m) / Igor Makarov ($0.552m)

DEFENSEMEN

Duncan Keith ($5.538m) / Brent Seabrook ($5.800m)

Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m) / Mike Komisarek ($4.500m)

Nick Leddy ($1.116m) / Chris Campoli ($1.700m))

/ John Scott ($0.512m)

GOALTENDERS

Corey Crawford ($2.666m) / Alexander Salak ($0.612m)

(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)

SALARY CAP: $62,400,000; CAP PAYROLL: $61,153,462; BONUSES: $545,000

CAP SPACE (20-man roster): $1,246,538

Never been much of a Kessel fan. Tons of talent, but he absolutely blows at the other end of the ice. Not saying he wouldn't be a nice upgrade around here, especially that second line would be one of the better ones around, but not a huge fan of paying him that kind of money when he's bad defensively and has at times had his work ethic questioned. Not to mention I dont think Burke would trade Kessel cause that would kind of be like him admitting defeat on that horrible trade he made with the Bruins. Komisarek would be a nice fit though.

Two things on Campbell to Toronto: 1)If Campbell does not designate Toronto as one of his teams in the no movement clause, the point is moot, and 2) Kaberle is a UFA to be that will be cheaper and for fewer years.

Would make sense for Burke to make a play for Kaberle as opposed to Campbell if he really wants a puck moving dman.

That would be one of his teams. Very close to home and his Father.

Too funny, my daughter started singing this today in the truck. I had never heard or seen this before, until today, and twice now.

I don't know why he would want him back. Kaberle hasn't exactly shone in Boston.

... ONLY if Kessel has one year left on that contract... Otherwise, *puke* ... (Which he doesn't..... saw 3 yrs left... *puke*) I'd be ONLY doing that trade for Komisarek, and even then it is way beyond one-sided.

I'm definitely NOT a Kessel fan... Not by any means. Why? You pretty much hit it on the head.

Plus the worst part about Kessel is that he played at Minnesota.... yuck
