thats funny I thought I've read from multiple guys like Kuc-Sassone, ect ect Kopecky wasn't going to be resigned. Brouwer is gone because of Q. Not to free Cap space. If Q liked Brouwer, he'd still be here.

Don't get a Center and put Kruger there. So you have Morin-Kruger-Hossa. No fucking thanks.

And Tony everyone is throwing ideas out there. Mostly at this point what "we" would do. I read something the other day talking about the Hawks possibly interested in Laich. And Laich interested in Chicago. Can't remember were I read it though.

Yikes! Perish the thought. I mean I want to see Kruger develop into something and all but I don't want his ass on the fucking 2nd line.

"It’s a nice change, to be honest," said Bowman, who is in Minnesota for this weekend's NHL Draft. "We’re not trying to deal players to get to the cap. We have room to add players. Having that additional flexibility is going to help us not only in the summer but during the season when there may be opportunities to pick up players. But you have to have cap space to do that".

http://twitter.com/#!/adamjahns

Bowman on spending more than league minimum to better his 4th line: "I think we are going to do that. "

If this is what Bowman elects to do, I agree. Not that me agreeing means shit. Leaving cap space to use for acquistions during the season and up to the trade dealine translates into $1-2 million in available cap space. And in upgrades on the bottom forward line, a replacement for Campbell, and signing Campoli and Frolik leaves no room for Brad Richards.

Unless Bowman can/has figured a way to buy-out Olesz.

The problem we've always said, RK, with Bolly on 2nd line is he has a tendency to disappear there. For some reason he doesn't pay with the same intensity, IMO, on the 2nd line.

Books, I think Brooksy would take a 3-5 yr contract in the 3.5 to 3.8 range, I honestly dont think he gets 4....unless it is from one of the teams that HAS to spend to hit the CAP floor.

Hmmm, maybe you and RK are right Bubblelicious. I am not saying I think Laich deserves more than $3.5 - $4 mil just that I think he is gonna get $4 mil or a bit over $4 mil because he's one everyone's radar who's looking for a decent Centre after Richards in this UFA class. Not fair that it's so weak at Centre but it is what it is and we know GMs tend to be willing to overpay slightly (or largely! lol) where UFAs are concerned. I don't think anyone gives him over $5-5.2 mil though. . .God, at least I hope not.

I don't think he can be bought out this first year because he's injured and still on the IR. He can be dumped in Rockford though once he's off the IR.

More nonsense about Bolland.

For the record, I'd prefer Bolland slotted with on the 3rd line as a checking center.

Three years ago, he centered Ladd and Havlat and that was hardly the 3rd line. A case could be made his line was the best performing line for the Hawks in the playoffs. Two years ago, it was Versteeg and Ladd. Last season it was Pisani to start and Bickell joined them as the season progressed. Shortly after Pisani went down in LA, Hossa moved with Bickell and Bolland. That line tore it up for a couple of weeks until Bolland was concussed. After Bolland was injured, Bickell disappeared. Then there was the Frolik thing in this past playoffs.

The constant with Bolland is that he has almost always gone up against the oppositions top line whether his wingers were Ladd, Havlat, Versteeg, Bickell, Pisani, Hossa, or Frolik. I'm guessing he had more regular wingers than Toews and Sharp combined.

Is the health of Bolland and the lack of depth at center a concern? Absolutely. But revisionist history on "chemistry with Hossa" or "Bolland's play on the 2nd line" does not move the conversation in the proper direction. At least in my not so humble opinion.

Anything over 4 and no way. Option number Reasoner. Who's not a 2line center. So then you do what tony wants and move Bolland up. Frolik-Bolland-Bickell is your 2nd line and Smith/Morin-Reasoner-Hossa is your third. Hossa can move back and forth I guess.

I'm sure Q agrees with that.

Ehhh just pull a Doug Wilson and go for broke on Stamkos. Problem solved for like the next 15 years looking for another great center.

Maybe. The only quote I've seen regarding that is from Allan Walsh- the crayzed twitter agent.

There is an exemption to the normal buy-out period.

If the Hawks could buy-out this POS now, they would receive a credit in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

and or ever icing the rest of your team.

Larmer that was my point with Bolland on the 3rd line.

Most of the focus is on the 1st and 2nd, while allowing the 3rd, to take over at times. Just like with Havlat-Bolland-Ladd. I think Frolik and Bolland could have excellent chemistry and Bickell is just now finding his game. Bickell could very well turn into a Ladd type player. His shot, size and skating ability are similar in some respect, better in others. Ladd just has far more experience.

He can not be bought out. He will not be cleared for play until early Sept, after the the buy out window.

He's either here, traded, or in Rockford.

Now they could send him down, recall him and eat the 1.5 or what ever it is the next three years. That would give them an emergency extra cushion. No doubt many teams would take a chance on Olezs at 1.5. He does have potential.

Nah. . .no reason to get greedy and go after Stamkos! Heh.

I would be perfectly happy with rescuing Jordan Staal from PIT's 3rd line. He deserves to get a chance to at minimum be another team's 2C. . .and by "another team" I mean the Blackhawks!

would take staal in a heartbeat. Dont think it's happening.

I know, I know. It's the "Wish List" though man. A girl can dream damnit! LOL He's only at $4 mil per for the remaining two years of his contract. Those lucky bastards---having Staal as a 3C is truly a luxury. They only have 9 Forwards signed right now but have their entire D locked up---with the $8 mil in cap space Shero has to work with they should be able to get the rest of their Forwards locked up. Sighs.

Can you imagine a Morin/Cole/Fleischmann/SOMEBODY-Staal-Hossa line? Or being able to say you've got Toews, Staal, and Bolland down your middle? Dreamy.

From the CBA

11.18 Ordinary Course Buy-Outs Outside the Regular Period. Clubs shall have the

right to exercise Ordinary Course Buy-Outs outside the regular period for Ordinary

Course Buy-Outs in accordance with Paragraph 13(c)(ii) of the SPC. Each Club shall be

limited to no more than three (3) such buyouts over the term of this Agreement pursuant

to Paragraph 13(c)(ii) of the SPC. However, in the event that a Club has only one salary

arbitration hearing pursuant to Section 12.3(a) in a given League Year, such Club shall

not be entitled to exercise such a buyout outside the regular period for Ordinary Course

Buy-Outs. No Club shall exercise an Ordinary Course Buy-out outside the regular period

for any Player earning less than $1 million.

The issue is salary arbitration in a "given League Year".

They can't buy him out for the same reason NY could not buy out Drury.

Maybe. The issue with Drury is that his injury is career ending. If my recollection is not hindered by years of cannabis abuse at SIU. Olesz injury is not career ending.

****. Who knows? It will play out one way or another.

LOL! I don't think the Canabis effected either of us. Doesn't matter if it's career ending or he'll be back by September.

They were talking about it on NHL Network just after the trade.

Hopefully Stan sits by watching!

Sharp-Toews-Kane

Morin-laich-Hossa

Frolik-Bolland-Bickell

Asham-Madden-Konopka

Pretty dangerous.

I thought we should've signed Asham last season, after watching how he played against us in the Cup Finals and earlier in the playoffs.

I dont know about Madden. I guess if he wants 4th line duty for 4th line pay fine. But he looked finished by the time he and the Hawks made the playoffs.

I don't know about looking finished. While his game wasn't the same after the Limo he completely took Frasers job away from him during the finals and played 4th line Center on the way to another Cup

He made 1.2 mil last year so I'd say that was 4th line pay, which the Hawks could afford now.

I'd take him, his THREE Cups and Centering abilities for our 4th line.
