Titans just cut Robert Woods. Dude was a great slot WR for his years with the Rams.
so your saying the possibility of Mooney and Claypool outside, Woods in the slot, EQ as 4th WR/sub on the outside, Jones as the Gimmick, Kmet and possibly Saquon(prefer Gibbs in the draft, but Bears gotta spend) as possible targets for Fields
Could be a good start.

This is sloppy.

It's Vildor's last year under contract and he has almost no guaranteed $, Post June 1 cut does nothing. Also why cut a cheap player who is right now a starter and probably will wind up a decent backup, without replacing him?

Those contracts aren't going to pay out evenly over time, so the actual cap hit would be much lower than he is suggesting. There are also many other positions that need to be filled that would cost money against the cap.

I hope that the Bears don't give Arden Key a 4 year contract. I also don't think that either of those OL is a very good fit for zone, not at the price. I don't think they will spend that much on Okereke.
Vildor looked like a competent backup zone corner at times last year

Bobby Trees probably doesn't have much left at 31, but he has more left than he showed in Nashville this year. A year further removed from ACL surgery will probably mean a better version of him in 2023. Tennesee's QB situation was a mess and his recovery led to a 9.9 ypc season. He's pretty consistently been a 12+ ypc guy, but he's also at the age where he could just be losing agility/quickness. He'd be worth a shot, but a pretty last resort type.

Taylor Lewan got cut by the titans

Worth looking into a short prove it deal coming off an injury plagued last season at 31 years old?
His best role, if he doesn’t retire, is as a backup to help tutor Jones and play in a limited role

...Though, I don't see TE, LT and QB as issues and they aren't places the Bears are going to add anyone super significant.
Would you consider Evan Engram if he becomes a cap casualty?

No, just saying Woods was really good in the slot with the Rams.

He's a FA, I believe. But IDK. I don't think the Bears would use him enough to make it worth it for him or the Bears, based on what I think he will get paid. He'd basically be their every down slot WR and I think that would take away his matchup advantages he has vs LBs when lined up tight.

He certainly won’t be available at that stage like those guys were. He’s like 7 years younger. Though perhaps still damaged goods. Obviously, it’s all pending physicals passing and what not.

I just figure he might be open to a 1 year deal to show he’s healthy again, even if it’s like 10 mil for the year to get him. Could be worth it as insurance for Jones/or moving Jones to RT or letting Lewan play RT

And if that’s the case, it’s certainly a move along situation.
If he is a candidate for a 1-2 year deal to have a guaranteed guy at tackle on day 1, sure. The team should still be drafting a good player to sit behind him and work his ass off for a chance to start (or be ready for injuries).

It's not a bad idea, in fact the money would say this is good savings if it works out - the concept of having a good player that is not depended upon for very long is something this team needs to consider at every OL position

He is very openly considering retirement due to injuries. It’s a horrible idea.

Yeah he played like a good backup in his two years with good DL's. I'll stick with the 2 year deal at most with the guaranteed money gone after 1.
Spotrac estimates a 2 year deal for what’s it’s worth

I'm not against it but would be a waste if we don't add a legit DE on the other end and a 3T that can also get to the QB his share of times and then Key can rotate with Gipson, Robinson or whoever else we bring in with a mid to late round pick.

Dre’Mont Jones, Dalvin Tomlinson and Key in FA for the DL

Trade down with Indy and select Anderson at 4. Problem solved ?

I've had D.Jones as my guy all along just because i never thought we were going to pay D.Payne the kind of price many thought he would get so i'm more than fine with bringing him in to play 3T and love the idea of what W.Anderson can bring. I could get behind that and if Key doesn't play up to keeping him for that 2nd year then we can let him walk and replace him in 2024.
