Are you actually of the belief that they will not be highly prioritizing WR in trade/FA/draft?

That seems a bit obtuse.

They clearly are adding a WR, if not via draft then FA.

Their starting slot is EQ St. Brown right now.

They already acquired their wide receiver at the trade deadline. And last year when everyone was screeching for offense all offseason Ryan Poles went and took two defensive backs with his first two picks.

So now they have 2 WR's? Nice. Most nfl teams have 4-5 of those.

Ok, whats that got to do with JSN or getting another WR?
The "investment" in that position has already been made. The Bears barely have a rosterable player on the defensive line and the situation on the offensive line isn't much better than that. They've got other problems to deal with. Maybe if they hadn't fucked up that Chase Claypool trade they'd have the extra selection and extra flexibility....but they don't.

Actually they have about none, unless Darnell Mooney stays healthy (but I'm not counting on it). Chase Claypool isn't really an NFL quality player anymore and hasn't been for years, but the GM thought he was worth thirty-second overall for some insane reason I can't quite comprehend.

Yea, and if Fields doesn't pan out they will have a major problem to fix, finding a new GM.

They are 100% getting another starting WR. I don't need some guy named Montucky to tell me what poles is thinking.

Just look at the depth chart, their starting slot if St. Brown. That will not happen once camp starts.

Kansas City has only drafted two weapons in the first round in the last ten years: Jonathan Baldwin and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. They probably wish they could take both picks back.

I wouldn't rule out wide receiver with that fifty-first overall pick from Baltimore though.

Just playing devils advocate but there’s more likely to be a good dline there in round 2 than there is a WR.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
Richardson runs 4.43 40, sets combine leap record

Richardson set a modern combine record for quarterbacks with a 40 1/2-inch vertical jump (best since at least 2003).

Not sure why this a big deal for a Qb. He's not gonna be doing non-stop jump passes and he's not gonna be batting down
passes.

It is a test of explosion which is useful for a running QB.

Explosiveness yes.
Typically you're Qb is not going to be running a most plays ( like a "wishbone Qb"). For a Qb, the 40 time might be a much better gauge / indicator as to "Explosiveness" and/or mobility .

The vertical jump is more apropos for Wide receivers, defensive backs, pass rushers. Wide receivers, defensive backs, pass rushers can improve draft stock most via a good vertical jump.

Note: please copy and paste.....anything u may disagree with...Thanks.

Maybe if they pick up twelfth and second in a dramatic overpay from the Texans.

I don't see how on earth the Bears could pass on one of these edge rushers to draft another wide receiver. The biggest hole on the team is pass rushing and its the strongest positon (aside from maybe quarterback) in this otherwise mediocre draft class.
This draft class really isn't as bad as people are claiming. The qb class is solid. There is good depth in DL, WR, TE, and RB. OL is pretty top heavy, I don't think it is quite as deep as last year.

There's a lot of depth on DL and WR. I'd love to trade back to 4 then 9 and pick up 2 more 2nds. Then I'd be alright taking jsn with 3 picks in the second to attack OL and DL. Maybe even take a guy like Washington or Gibbs with one of those seconds depending on how things fall

I'm not worried about his 40 time, but the fact is he'll run "slow". I'm more concerned with the fact that he's exclusively a slot receiver. Fields likes to throw the deep routes, even in college. He needs someone who can go up and compete for those ball, someone who can create separation off the LOS and provide a target Fields is comfortable with.
Well Fields is gon have to learn to throw to whoever is open, deep or not.

And shit, everyone knows it. Fields said it, Flus said it, Poles said it, Getsy said it.

So not sure this is gon be that much of a factor

Yeah it depends on what they get from the tradedowns and how the draft goes, there is a lot of good depth of talent at both DL and WR in the first 2-3 rounds even if there are limited super high end blue chip prospects. Bears probably need to take multiple DL in first 2 days of draft, but there are so many holes on roster they need to do heavy lifting in FA where possible.

Ideal scenario would be trading 1 for 4, 35, next year's 1st and a 4th next year. Then trading 4 and a 4th this year for 9, 39, 1st next year and Derrick Brown. Draft JSN at 9. Take Tuli in 2nd and schmitz or wypler. Presumably they'll have signed at least 1 DT and DE in FA, as well as a RT and a G.
