I agree with Fields needing a different perspective, possibly via a veteran QB. However, that could/should also come from the QB coach.

I disagree about it being tougher on defenses if the backup QB isn't a carbon copy of Fields. Who do you think defenses would rather prepare for, a QB like Peterman/Semien who they know are no threat to run and will be in the pocket, or a mobile QB like DTR/Malik Cunningham who are threats in the run game via the read option, bootlegs and scrambles on broken plays?

Pretty sure if you look across the league the vast majority of backup QBs are not carbon copies of the starting QB. It is just not something that is mission critical.

Mission critical, no.

But logical for continuity, yes.

Darnell Washington would look great in a bears uniform still IMO
I've been hoping Bears grab him - guy is a straight up ogre and would love to see him smash some DBs while wearing navy and OJ.

JSN ran the fastest 3 cone of any 1st round grade WR ever.

Let that sink in.

Dude may not have that top end 40 speed, but his acceleration and agility are unreal. If he stays healthy dude should slay from the slot.

Do do do dodoooo *and with the thirty-second pick overall and first pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft the Chicago Bears select....Chase Claypool? uh wide receiver from Notr-Pittsburgh I guess?"

Give up on Jaxon Smith-Njigba. It ain't happening. The Bears drafted their wide receiver at the trade deadline.

The fire is big enough to fit multiple irons.

Maybe if they pick up twelfth and second in a dramatic overpay from the Texans.

I don't see how on earth the Bears could pass on one of these edge rushers to draft another wide receiver. The biggest hole on the team is pass rushing and its the strongest positon (aside from maybe quarterback) in this otherwise mediocre draft class.

Poles comes from KC where they add weapons constantly. I’d be shocked if he doesn’t add more for Fields. I don’t know if JSN is his guy or not but I certainly wouldn’t be telling people it ain’t happening at this point. It’s as realistic as any other option.

Are you actually of the belief that they will not be highly prioritizing WR in trade/FA/draft?

That seems a bit obtuse.

Kansas City has only drafted two weapons in the first round in the last ten years: Jonathan Baldwin and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. They probably wish they could take both picks back.

I wouldn't rule out wide receiver with that fifty-first overall pick from Baltimore though.
