He had the most impressive throwing session at the combine by far, imo.

Feel like dude will get the JF1 treatment leading up to the draft tho, all the love going to the other 3 QB's.
I don't think there are elite prospects at the other postions to steal anyone's shine, though. Maybe if you need a pass rusher, but other than that its pretty weak.

Meanwhile 2021 had an elite tier prospect at tight end and left tackle, a couple of high-end cornerbackprospects plus a boatload of elite tier wide receivers. Whether Carolina or Denver wishes they had Justin Fields or Mac Jones instead of the guys they drafted is impossible know, but I don't sense that dynamic where teams who were marginal at quarterback are content to sit back and draft another position. The teams picking in the back half of the top ten in 2023 seem much more motivated than their counterparts from 2021.

If Aaron Rodgers is true to his whole self mantra he will retire. The only reason he plays another season is 1) money which he doesn't need or 2)going into the HOF behind Brady.

I kinda think the Brady/Rodgers combined HOF ceremony would be hyped as a huge NFL pud pulling spectacle
There is no such thing has having too much money!

Actually they have about none, unless Darnell Mooney stays healthy (but I'm not counting on it). Chase Claypool isn't really an NFL quality player anymore and hasn't been for years, but the GM thought he was worth thirty-second overall for some insane reason I can't quite comprehend.
it wasnt the 32nd overall pick when the trade was made

dont be an idiot

Tbf the projection of your team that year should be taken into account and anyone with any football sense should have known this team was going to be picking high.

It was bad value before the second we found out it was the bears 2nd pick.

was in week 9. not even half the games into the season

and still think the trade was made with the future in mind, not for immediate dividends last season

Mission critical, no.

But logical for continuity, yes.

Logical sure but if it was that important, more teams would adopt that approach. They largely don't. It seems to be one of those things fans talk about that actual Head Coaches dont really care about.

This seems like a pretty terrible comp. Will fuller seems more apt and I think he was probably a little more polished. @knoxville7 thoughts?
I’m not as high on Hyatt as most are. So yeah, I’d say he’s more will fuller than he is Chris Olave

It was half way into the season and the GM didn't even know his team was among the NFL's worst. That's not a very good sign.

3-5 at that time and that was not the nfls worst

the trade wasn't made to put them over the top in a super bowl year and i think they knew that before the trade was made. pick 32 doesn't guarantee JSN or a good player for that matter. they saw the wr fa class was weak and made a move.

fun to play as captain hindsight but at the time fans were begging for more help at the WR position and would have criticized poles for sitting on his hands before the trade deadline

If this was really a consideration Ryan Poles should've been fired months ago.

I'd say the gm knew very well how bad the team was, which is why he'd just traded off Quinn and roqueen. So the issue was his valuation of claypool

Pretty sure it wasn't. Was just pointing out the general consensus at the time. Had more to do with the weak upcoming FA WR class more than anything. And again, 2nd rounders miss as well. Look at Adam Shaheen. Ill wait for judgement on the trade until the end of this season seeing as Fields and Claypool didnt exactly play alot together

Will Fuller is a really good WR that just can't stay healthy.

He’s going to threaten Bryce Young for #1 pick
I feel like he'll go after stroud and young because those first couple teams picking qb need immediate contributors. Richardson would make a lot of sense for Detroit or Seattle who can let him sit a year. Maybe someone like TB or Washington signs someone like Dalton or JG and let's Richardson learn behind him for a year

Think the draft is gonna go QB QB QB and QB. Very good for the bears. And love it if the lions stick with goff as their QB. Keep playing the mid QB. Bears are going to feast. Bears will trade down twice with 9 looking to be the spot. 1-2 with either be stroud or young. Arizona will trade out for someone who loves Richardson and then Panthers will get desperate and jump to 4 for Levis. At 9 I'll go offense. So either Paris is trade down again to take jsn in the 10-15 range.

"This free agent class looks really bad. Hmmm...maybe I should give away my second pick?"

This GM is a fucking hopeless moron. Sad for the Bears, thank god we get to watch Arlington Heights unravel before the incompentence of the McCaskey family and their "stadium nerd" team president.
