I'd think if Jets miss on him and Rodgers stays put/retires, they'd be desperate to potentially potentially trade up.
This is my favorite trade partner, just for the variety of compensation a trade would return. Multiple top 100 picks this year and an extra first next year would be a sweet return.
I would also throw in Houston, Detroit, or Seattle trading into 1 sacrificing only the latter of their two first rounders this year.So lower QB needy surprise teams.
Wash at 16
Tampa at 19
Balt at 22--if they lose Lamar obviously and gain two 1st's for it.
Or a desperate move for a veteran that can conceivable win now.I'd think if Jets miss on him and Rodgers stays put/retires, they'd be desperate to potentially potentially trade up.
just saw that, yikes
At that point I think they just sign veteran competition like Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garappolo and just hope that Zach Wilson figures it out. Not because they wouldn't want to desperately trade up, but they just can't compete with a motivated Carolina or Indianapolis in terms of what they can give up.I'd think if Jets miss on him and Rodgers stays put/retires, they'd be desperate to potentially potentially trade up.
I was going to add Detroit #18 and the 2nd Seattle #20 but didn't think the Houston #12 was low enough for him to say we'd be surprised by how much lower this surprise team is. I was thinking about throwing Pitt #17 in there but think they'll ride with Pickett next year. This is my favorite trade partner, just for the variety of compensation a trade would return. I dont think you receive a top player in return in this scenario. Carolina would look to have a top young QB with their alleged #1 WR and an elite pass rusher on the other side that can make splash plays on any down and distance. They are more likely in a position to send off extra picks (which, hey, take every one they got from SF).Carolina is also my favorite trade destination. If they offer multiple picks and a proven pass rusher like Burns, you take it. Picking at 9, you got to go with JSN if he's there. An elite slot option is imperative in this league.
I know it's not the pick everyone wants, but I think free agency will bring some good linemen on both sides of the ball, and there's plenty of depth in this draft on both sides of the line.
Absolutely hate seeing shit like this.
Completely with you, but I think my gut says that my surprise is anything lower than 9 overall. The first team in the draft in a position to give up picks in three straight years is Carolina.I was going to add Detroit #18 and the 2nd Seattle #20 but didn't think the Houston #12 was low enough for him to say we'd be surprised by how much lower this surprise team is. or stays with GBHopefully Aaron Rodgers retires, makes the QB market even more needy if he did and everyone is sick of his diva bullshit.
If it were me, I would choose Vegas just because the coach is a former OC. That has to give you confidence.Would Jimmy garapollo choose Vegas or Jets or maybe TB?
