If Carolina is giving up three first, I would judge it unlikely that they are also giving up any seconds this year. Getting solid players in the second round are what makes up for not having future first rounders.
They have two seconds this year. They’d be likely to give up 1.

I don't think it is particularly likely but it is not out of the question. If the lions can get the top prospect that can grow behind a veteran that is still putting together good seasons, I think that any serious GM has to consider it. And if they are willing to put together a competitive offer, Poles better damn well consider it too. That's just business.

If Stroud is the number 1 prospect and the GM agrees that he'd be the future of the team, then you can't really settle for the second or third best QB.
There is no consensus on who the 2nd or third overall best QB is for starters. And if you are going to "groom" a QB for a year or two, you should be looking at Anderson, who is still likely the 3rd QB off the board (although Houston could select him at 2). Most, if not all of the teams looking to trade up are in win now mode.

That is the price for coming up in addition of giving up their 2nd rd pick and more. The price is highhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Also @Spitta Andretti kind of ironic you mentioning the cap being an issue for a team then one of the teams with a terrible cap situation signs an expensive FA qb.

They'll kick the can down the road some more and cut players like Michael Thomas and Jameis Winston and others. But it doesn't change that it will eventually come due and they will tear it all down

Kind of stupid to kick the can down the road for Derek Carr because that isn't going to put them anywhere close to winning anything so they're just delaying the inevitable

7 players? Has to be including Young, Stroud and Richardson right?
I cant imagine anyone really thinks Richardson is worth taking #1 overall. He's a lottery ticket. Honestly he shouldn't be a first rounder based off play, but his measurables and hopes of what he can be will put him top 10

The Bears are not trading the #1 pick within the division. It’s just not happening for that one reason alone.

The 6th overall pick is too high. Refresh your memory on what the Rams traded to Detroit for Staff. Two first rounders, yes, but not in the current year. Now, Detroit using #18 for Ramsey is a possibility, but I am leaning more towards a 2nd this year and a second next year.
I would guess that Detroit would rather spend 6th overall on the best CB in the draft. Using draft picks are supposed to save money, so spending 6 on CB instead of 18 for an expensive veteran CB (who is still at the top of his game) seems like the better deal.

We are both talking Carolina? They have one first, two seconds, one third, two fourths...

The combine creates a lot of buzz, but when people settle down and go home and look at tape, those flaws that aren't apparent in 40 yard dash times and throwing against air will re-emerge.

I dont think you receive a top player in return in this scenario. Carolina would look to have a top young QB with their alleged #1 WR and an elite pass rusher on the other side that can make splash plays on any down and distance. They are more likely in a position to send off extra picks (which, hey, take every one they got from SF).

JSN is a great option at 9 and the only reason to be skeptical on that end is any lingering thought on his past injury. A dedicated slot receiver that is worth targeting 8 times a game is a fine use of a top 10 pick. His agility will open up those short passes that Fields announced that he will work on in the offseason, which will then pull safeties down so Claypool and Mooney have chances downfield.
I see how most are now in on drafting JSN in the 1st round, as well as i am, but lets not forget about Z.Flowers who also looked great at the combine and would be a great slot for us. Absolutely loved how easy JSN made the drills look but Zay also looked like a stud. Josh Downs didn't look so bad himself. I see 3 legit slot guys in those 3 and had Zay as my top slot going into the combine but JSN damn sure did put himself from my #2 to #1 but Zay is an easy 1B to JSN's 1A.

Well at 9, I think WR might just be the most productive play if JSN is the guy. Follow that up with picks in the trenches on day 2 to fill out the roster with talent that can protect Fields, and this team goes from "Fields can surprise you by putting up 30+ points" to "The Bears are a threat to go an entire game without punting."

But any WR that improves this team next year will do so from the slot. And I would really like to follow that up with a pick to Darnell Washington. Putting the tallest TE next to the shiftiest WR would be a nightmare to cover completely.

I thought downs looked better than zay, but it is the combine with no defense so I guess take that with a grain of salt

The problem with Zay is he has NO floor. None. He is either a blazing comet or a hunk of dead iron. He is too hit or miss for me. So, I get it, but I’d rather have a big slot like Xavier Hutchinson or Mingo, who tested very well.

I would be very happy with Flowers as well. The OSU connection with JSN just makes it a little more a good headline though
