Or Jones can be a backup. Who cares, but I don't like his current pass protect skills as a starter on the left side.
He isn't a finished product for sure but I do like his make-up. I do think they need a good tackle in the draft. That O-line didn't give fields any help last season.

Another point. They absolutely require a stud center out of the off season. Mustipher is the worst center I have ever seen play.

Mustipher gives me nightmares lol. I hope to never see him in a Bears uni again.

Yeah, you can think that, but the people in charge don't think that. He didn't even have competition last year and he was a 5th round pick from FCS. Soon as they drafted him, they moved Borom and Jenkins to RT before camp even started. And they didn't add Reiff until right before camp.

If he wasn't given competition last year, started all 16 games, and got better as the season went on....he isn't going to get competition this year.
Well it's just my opinion, so yes I can think that, and neither of us are getting paid by the Bears to make decisions. They liked his measurables, but that doesn't mean he can't be a great back up. Again, hope he grows into a solid starter but I'm not sold just yet.

To be fair, handing out fully guaranteed quarterback money to a player who has been overall really bad in the playoffs is pretty reckless. Not that I agree with everything Baltimore does, but giving Jackson that kind of money with no way out is a colossal gamble that can bury your franchise for a long time if it doesn't work out. A big contact for Roquan Smith isn't great, but its not a franchise killer.

OK? I never said you couldn't think that or that I am paid by the Bears. I'm just saying, you're wasting your time wishing they provide competition or a bench spot for someone they have clearly shown they are all-in on. You're clearly free to waste your time, though, just as I am free to tell you why I think it is a waste.

Best case scenario is maybe they also love Paris Johnson and put him at LT because of being a top 10 pick, but even in that scenario, Jones is the starting RT and it's going to be without much competition, and frankly, on an OL with 5 below average starters, as the only 1 who stayed healthy all year, he's probably earned the chance to improve more than anyone.

I am surprised there isn't a "Lamar Jackson" thread.
Much more intriguing than the Aaron Rodgers Diva Drama.
