What is the worst is Ballard not doing everything to trade up to #1 (he refused to add Pittman) to get the QB that his owner wanted, while said owner was sitting with Ballard's scrotum in his hand and an evil looking knife in his other hand, ready to lop the scrotum off.
If the QB that he takes, even slightly falters, he's gone by November. I'm surprised Irsay hasn't rage fired him, just to be done with it.

DJ Moore already being paid + being 25 + being just flat out awesome makes him a significantly better fetch than Waller and Pittman (even if Pittman wasn't offered). Pittman is going to get closer to $22M AAV or so and doesn't exactly fit Justin's current strengths like a glove like Moore does.

Waller is a bit removed already from his crazy peak years so it's not really even worth the comparison.

This frugality is nice because it does offer you a good deal of flexibility - I wonder if we're going to see Poles focus on front loaded extensions with Kmet, Mooney, Johnson and to a much lesser extent Claypool.

How many QBs don't falter even slightly their first year?

Moreover; Ballard will need either Levis or Richardson, whoever is left, to not falter right from the start.

Looking at this list of teams cap space, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bears end up with Orlando Brown on a contract more to their liking than his, but it may drag out a while because I'm sure he doesn't want to look dumb turning down the contracts he has turned down.

The only teams with significant cap space that I could see interested are LV, NE (not really their MO though), Cincy (but they have Collins, Williams, and Jackson at T), maybe the cardinals (but they have more pressing needs on defense I'd think).

Lol, imagine if he gets stuck with Levis, and it's the second coming of Dear Sweet Mitchell... LMAO!!

Man, I almost feel bad for Colts fans. To go from Manning, to Luck, to the shitstorm dynamic duo of Wentz and a washed up Matt Ryan. And still be on the hook financially, for both of them.

Yes, you make a good point. Maybe Poles top plan was to spend big on LB and try to find value everywhere else. The only problem with that is that is a hard pill to swallow to think Edmunds was the top FA priority when we had the most cap space in the league.

Poles specifically stated the importance of premium positions a few weeks ago at the combine. He let Roquan go last season. But now he turns around and goes into a full bidding war for LB...?! It leaves me perplexed. I dont understand the rationale.

I think his plan was he was going to spend big more on guys who were actually very good to elite. Edmunds was the 5th ranked LB ahead of Quan who was 21st and he likely got the deal Poles offered Quan. Poles didnt let Quan go. He offered him around 18m a year but Quan wanted 20m.

As for the OL and DL players fans keep crying about none of them were top at their position outside of McGary whonwas 4th but that was pretty much due to a 91 blocking grade. Other than that Brown was 19th, McGlinchy was 36 and Taylor was 69. None of them are really worth what they received.

On D, Hargrave was 11th but likley preferred SB contending Niners. For all the talk of Jones he was 102 because his run D sucks. Zach Allen was good as ranked 25 but the guy we actually got ie Walker was ranked 24th.

So I think he is fine overpaying for top end talent but Bears fans have allowed need to fool them into pretending these guys were all top end talent. Most were good in one area but deficient in others.

Exactly what I thought. Timing made little sense. You can get a guy like Homer late in the off-season. Hell, you can get him in the middle of the season. They also could have drafted someone in the 6th round to do whatever role they have planned for him. Seemed really early to target him.

Ok but what is the point? Does Poles signing him now affect anything at all? If not then who gives a shit.

Ballard, is fucking remedial for signing off on this, to begin with. And Jim Irsay needs to leave the coke alone, and fire Ballard
Are you fucking kidding me? Ballard just signed Matt *** to the largest contract ever signed by a NFL kicker and passed on the 1st overall pick so he could hold on to Michael Pittman. Now, he’ll probably end up with the last QB left on the top tier pile. This guy is a donkey eared genius!

Looks like the theme to trading for number one was letting go of a wr threat. Moore is > Waller Pittman

Someone mentioned Colts tanking for 2024 first... I can't imagine a world where Ballard makes it through the season. .. Colts fans have to be done with his bullshit.
