LOL. You simply can't win games with 8 real drop back passing attempts. And you can't magically throw for 300 or even 200 yards per game if you get pressured on 62.5% of those drop backs. This team is a mess and I can't believe Poles thought for a minute they would be as much as competent.

I don't think much could be expected with the below numbers, especially with the toughest schedule in the league and no 1st rnd draft pick.

They just said that Eddie doesn't appear to have an Achilles injury but probably won't be able to play for at least 12-16 months.

Thanks that is just horrible. Out next year too. This team has become an armchair GMs dream, otherwise a total disaster.

Bernstein just said it was reported that they had a long film review of Seimien's performance with Justin Feilds and had an in depth conversation about using his legs less and making more short throws like Trever did instead of getting sacked. Basically, sounds like they won't be playing Feilds the rest of the season if he doesn't make bigger efforts to become a pocket passer instead of a 1st round running back.

On the score they said that Mooney was seen in a wheelchair and with a whole leg brace thar had a bunch of pins in it and had an IV bag that looked like he was on a morphine drip for the pain.

I heard the exact same thing. Very sad.

On ESPN 1000 this morning one of the contributors (can't remember the name) said that VJJ was spotted late on Saturday night at a "specialty bar" out in NY and that might be why he wasn't targeted once in the passing game.

Poor guy can't even go to his favorite NY Seniors-only spot for his early-bird dinner without causing a media fallout.

I don’t think he ever intended for this roster to be competent this season.

Russ and Mahomes both do majority of their damage passing the ball. That’s really the entire point, more so than just being a pocket passer. Their was a stat during lasts nights game that no SB winning QB had more than 100 rushing attempts in a season (much lower in most cases). Again, I think that ends up changing eventually as the game is evolving. However, until someone actually breaks that barrier, it’s an accurate and on point narrative.

That is a silly stat. How many QBs have multiple 100 rushing attempts as otherwise you arent even talking a handful of QBs. You are talking a handful of QBs in just one of their seasons.

For example Wilson had 96 rushes when the Hawks won the SB. He then made the SB the next year with 118 rushes and lost on an Int. So are we pretending Wilson wasnt good enough to win or that those 4 rushes made the difference between him winning in 2013 and losing in 2014? The irony is he wins 2 SBs if thry actually had run the ball instead of pass.

In fact if I look at the QBs that have had 100 rushing attempts whose careers are over a larger percentage of them have made a SB. Wilson, Newton, McNair, CK vs just Vick and Cunningham who havent.

So one could argue a running QB makes it more likely you make a SB not less as 66% of running QBs have made one.

The jury is still out on Jackson, Allen, Fields, Hurts and Murray but 4 of them have made the playoffs.

It is a lazy narrative. It is small sample size noise and really just dumb luck that Wilson feel 4 carries short when he won the SB.

The point is that they would prefer to stay in the pocket and couldn't be that successful without being good in it. It's still football. As usual, this seems more a matter of defining our terms than a real disagreement. I kinda miss the real ones and 12 pages of fun.

I dont know that that is true of Wilson or Mahomes. They are at their best on the move and on off script plays. They are just good enough to survive in the pocket long enough to take advantage when those off script plays come.

But of course a QB has to be able to make throws at some point. Not sure that is saying all that much. Even when Fields is running a lot he still is making a few big plays in the passing game usually.

It’s not really a lazy narrative since it is factual overall lol…However, it is not without its counter points which you have illustrated quite nicely. I think the stat overall is more to show that you need to win by throwing the ball more than anything. SB QBs by and large outside of a few outliers, have been prolific and surgical passers. I think that’s fair to say. That’s one reason I’m not sold on Jackson to win a SB. He’s not a great passer. I think Fields will get there.

I mean, it could be just media speak, but it certainly seems like he expected this team to be somewhat respectable. In some ways they are, considering they have been competitive in almost all the Fields' starts, but they might have 20 actual NFL players on the 53 man roster.
