I agree with that but they still need to gauge his value on an extension.

They aren't going to extend him this offseason if he doesn't play much unless it is for relatively cheap. If anything the injury depresses his value this offseason.

Healthy enough to go back into the game and is still injured a couple weeks later. Did they ever say what the knee injury was?
Don’t know, but it looked bad on the replay during the game. Thought it was an acl or something a lot more serious.

I don’t want him risking long-term injury during a meaningless season.

See what they have with him in camp and next season.

I kinda don't think Bears will be drafting OL that high. Seems like this FO has a lot of confidence in their ability to find and develop OL talent. For better or worse, I think they feel to clever for that
Feel like most Bears GMs think this and it always backfires lol. You’re probably never going to have 5 starting OL who were first rounders but you could at least have a couple

I wonder what this team would look like if Poles was forced to spend the next 10 years drafting only OLINE or DLINE in the 1st round.

That may be extreme, but teams that have good lines typically do well. Protect the QB and putting pressure on the opposing QB is a good strategy lol.

Bears have a good opportunity this draft (and FA) to upgrade both. Take the blue chip DL at 3 or trade back and take an OT like Skoronski/Paris and a DL later in the first assuming they pick up an additional first with the trade. Someone mentioned at one point that this is a strong draft for IOL in rounds 2-5 as well so I imagine Poles upgrades the C position too.

I know it would never happen.

Just a “what if” hypothetical.
