I liked Sam Kamara a lot. I think he can line up and play in the NFL. He's not going to be a star, but he isn't going to get bullied (like trevis gipson) either.
Yeah, both seemingly odd moves.

Clearly the FO have something lined up.

I'm probably in the minority but I think it's dumb to not say where an offensive lineman is going to play (when you know he's playing Sunday) or who is going to be the kick or punt returner if you know who it is going to be. They'll be tricked for exactly 1 play, wow, game changer.

Why does he have to say though? Whats the purpose?

He doesn't have to, it's his team and his choice on what he does/doesn't answer. The 49ers will know after the first play who the center is and after the 1st kick off and punt return who is returning kicks. I can't imagine Patrick playing guard or center changes the way SF approaches defending the Bears or that he really changes much of anything the Bears do gameplan wise. I can understand that level of gamesmanship if it were a QB but not center/guard or kick/punt returner. Just seems like gamesmanship for gamesmanship purposes. But hey, I'm not an NFL coach so what do I know?

He doesn’t have to say at all, but there is no advantage to holding that information back. I don’t think the 9ners DC or ST coordinator has different game plans up their sleeves depending on which OL or returner is starting. Would be different if we were talking about a QB.

Just hypothetical, but if, for example, they view Patrick as a better pass blocker, and Teven as a better run blocker... you dont think them having to plan for neither or both holds any water? As far as who they decide to attack with, or as a potential tell ahead of time?

I personally don’t think it matters that much. I definitely understand your logic and don’t disagree with it. But to me I think the DC is game planning more for Fields and his skill sets. I also think Getsy and Flus have to know their weaknesses and game plan around that as well.

Why give the opponent ANYTHING? It may not be much, but you don't owe them or the media information. I also thought, as far as releasing some DEF players I heard something about $$$ and so they may be hired back? IDK. I liked Kamara, too. Maybe they see another move to make. We'll see.

Eburflus brought up unprovoked that Patrick has played all 3 inside positions. Then said that he knows what the plan is for him Sunday but does not want to say.

This sounds to me like Patrick is going to play Guard unless Eburflus is trying to gain a competitive advantage by throwing scenarios out there that are not going to happen.

I will be disappointed if Jenkins is on the bench Sunday and Mustipher is at center but I am starting to believe that will be the case. If they move Whitehair to center then they sill have their 5 best on the field but I don't think Whitehair has taken a single snap at center in the practices media was allowed to see so that does not make a lot of sense.

Sure, this is a definite possibility. However, I think the SF defensive line is great enough that it doesn't matter who is in front of them, they're still going to get theirs.

Now, I will say I would definitely understand the gamesmanship if we were talking about a great or elite level player ala Trent Williams. If a guy like that may or may not play, then yeah, I could definitely see the reasoning behind keeping it quiet one way or the other. I've never watched Patrick and only a few games of Jenkins but I've never gotten the impression that anyone considers Patrick or Jenkins in that stratosphere of quality where it would make that much of a gameplan difference. But again, I'm a just a fan, not a coach, scout or GM.

I'm probably in the minority on this opinion and that's fine.

I like how you "think" Bates is a good player only because Poles couldn't get him

You had no idea who Bates was before this offseason
I was excited because I figured poles knew how to scout Olineman and we were going to get a good one. Guess he doesn’t according to everyone after one game against Arron Donald

I don't think it is about tricking anyone, but more the game preparation, an OL or PR obviously doesn't require the same prep as QB or a Quin/Mack type edge rusher, but I imagine it is just a policy. Personally IDGAF what they say, as long as it doesn't include "really neat" or "whys", more concerned with what they do.

The Bears can say whatever they want, but if they bench Teven Jenkins Sunday, there is no question that they have absolutely no interest in his development as a player.

I will say, if Jenkins comes out of this and still is able to play extremely well despite the obvious attempts by the Bears to **** with him, his mental toughness should never be called into question again.

I think we underestimate Jenkins mental makeup... and players in general at times.

These dudes are adults and earn paychecks. Teven is a 2nd year player still learning the ropes and attempting to earn his way in this league. His job is to keep developing and kick ass when he's called upon, which I'm confident he will do.

(I still think he starts btw... but if not there is no shame in the situation)
