He doesn’t have to say at all, but there is no advantage to holding that information back. I don’t think the 9ners DC or ST coordinator has different game plans up their sleeves depending on which OL or returner is starting. Would be different if we were talking about a QB.
I don't know man

Someone still has to line up across from the player. Might not affect game plans but will certainly affect how that specific player prepares and watches tape, looking for tendencies and tells and whatnot.

Might not be a huge difference, but still. It's something in a sport where one play can change the game

Smart moves by Poles.
I don't know. Seems like a lot of jerking around to one of your rostered players to potentially save at most ~$900k down the road. This would seem more like a move that a team riding the cap number would make, not a team with plenty of cap space this year and a ridiculous amount next year. Seems a little penny-wise, pound-foolish to me from a team morale perspective...

You mean the guy bears fans were clamoring to give a record contract next offseason?

Good for them lol, I’m not in that camp. I’d give that contract to Trent Williams, G is replaceable. Would have loved to have drafted him, let alone rooted for him, but with this contract, I’d rather spend it on other key positions. Just gross, but happy for him.

Can’t say I follow the Colts at all but isn’t Nelson on a HOF trajectory and easily one of the best players in the NFL? Like if you can’t pay that guy then what’s the point of drafting one high ever again?
Yes. He was going to get that contract somewhere, no reason for them to not re-sign him

Yeah, he is a solid player, but to hit $20M at guard, I mean wtf are we doing.
