I'm hope this is just a horrible attempt at trolling.

The league is largely African American and while the cops almost killed a black man on tape (Jacob Blake) the same police thanked a white local terrorist cell and gave them water as they kindly arrested them for killing two American citizens.

I'm a white guy in Canada. I don't see how you can afford to ignore that type of racial divide.

BTW, this is as football related as talking about COVID. Gotta think owners are shitting their pants thinking a police shooting in a city on a Friday means no football that weekend in select regions (or certain players sitting out last minute). Unlike bubble leagues or baseball there's no flexibility for makeup games.
Tell America that cops shooting an unarmed black man will cancel football games and you might actually get some attention, especially down here in the South.

What? I'm talking about why the practice is cancelled and mentioning that it could easily happen again.

I know some people go to sports as an escape from the real world, but unfortunately that luxury is gone. Pretending it's not happening won't change the outcome.

I'll give you the entire Aug. 27th practice notes: Some players looked over the playbook, some received treatment for injuries and some trained. You didn't see it and there weren't reporters, but they are in the building and it's safe to assume it happened. I'd add a lot of players were not working on improving in football because:
- hurricane Laura (Notice how it's always bad when it's named after a woman?).
- Jacob Blake shooting and the long list of issues that arise form that topic.
- COVID-19.
- Political stuff - Yes there is a convention going on now.
- Other personal life stuff.
I'm agreeing with you. Saying this thread obviously won't be about football because there is none to discuss today. If you look, i spoke on the topic at hand earlier in the thread

Too much hate in this country.

" one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

These words have never meant less.
LOL, So you think that there has been more liberty and justice for black people in the past?

I mean I am sure the BLM movement would love if we all could go back to the 1950's God fearing peaceful segregationist years were a negro knew his place.

This is the exact reaction the right white supremacists want. What is the opposite of woke? slept?

This isn't even about just black people.

This country is divided into groups now. We have zero leadership. We are filled with fear and hate.

And I am going to shoot that topic right down because this forum is still for football only.

We have another forum for your conversation. This thread is super active currently:

I don't think the team has made an official announcement yet, but that makes sense as the Bears have a strong organizational aversion to basic competence.

Yep. Sports & real world go hand in hand right now. Like it or not it's reality.

These words have never meant less.

They were always a lie. There has always been division based on race, gender, class, and geography.

I read it as him trying to validate his statement, " Building a top D has never been a problem for Bears GMs" by throwing in a 5 year qualifier so despite the Emery years the Bears mystic ability to have a top year carries on. As if Emery's picks eventually contributed.

Doesn't believing , " Building a top D has never been a problem for Bears GMs," mean you also have to believe a Bears GM will never be able to find a QB or build a top 10 offense.

I mean it's the team history not the GM that determines this fate, apparently.

No because of overlap where a GM might inherit another GMs players I used 5 years to account for that.

Take a guy like Hatley. He never had a top 12 D himself but his players like Urlacher were instrumental for Angelo who had a top 12 D the year he took over and several thereafter.

Emery is the exception as he inherited a top D but left the cupboard bare aside from Fuller I believe.

It’s ridiculous that Pace did not bring in a competent backup to Montgomery. Cohen is not an every down back and trying Patterson out at the position did not solve the problem.

RB is one of the most brutal, punishing positions in the game. To not have a solid backup is career malpractice by Pace and is just another (of many) reasons that proves he has to go. This is just GM 101 basic stuff. The guy is obviously in over his head.

agree that so far none of the GM's have been able to build a competent offense but pace deserves more credit for building a defense considering fuller was the only player he inherited that was worth anything. if memory serves, angelo had HOF urlacher along with brown and harris maybe more cant remember but thats a hell of a lot more than having 1 CB to work with.

I think John Fox & Vic Fangio were more responsible for building up & developing the defense. Besides many Bears GMs have put together a defense with no offense. Pace is a typical Bears type GM, nothing special.

If this happens during the season, I may just be done watching--I do not like politics with my sports. These privileged players are getting paid to walk off the job which not many other workers can do. Put your money where your mouth is and do something while you are not on the clock like every other American worker has to do.

We are all wondering whether or not you were going to watch this season!
